What did you do to your bike today?

Had a horrible ride back from work.
Misjudged my exit from A1, got leg cramp then spotted another biker whilst the car in front was going slower than I thought, all at once!! So I had to bail the exit, pull over to sort out my leg then go the long way back. I made a right tit of myself frankly.
Then before I got home, going through town I thought my bike wasn't sounding 100%.

Heat makes barely any difference, your bike isn't made any different to mine and it's 34c out here every time I ride.

I've forgotten how the English get all worked up over 25c :P

I have to adjust my idle up just a tad in summer, but I like it to idle really low

we aint used to the heat compared to florida

Could just be the fan running more than normal when you were going slower through the town?

Most likely this, fans make a big difference in riding, they never quite rev the same when they're on.

How's the 899 JP? I'm rather jealous, kind of concerned about reliability though

It sounded more rattley than anything.

I'm doing a few miles tomorrow, have to head over to Milton keynes. So will keep an eye (ear) on it.

It is funny. It's 33 degrees here today and it will hit 37-38 later in the week and I appear to be surviving just fine.

The 899 is amazing, more power than I really need and still getting used to the riding position but loving it.
Probably going to do Day 1 of the California Superbike School on a rental 899 to push someone else's bike :p
I don't regret buying it or anything but I realise I have bought more than I need just because I fell for the Panigale looks and the fancy new dealership.
For some reason I really want a Ducati Scrambler now also
As for reliability I will let you know!

Nah, not sure the fan was on and it was fine yesterday when it came on.

Tbh I need to do air and oil filters and check the spark plugs are all good now and coolant level is above low but doubt it's been touched in 5 years.

Service time!

If only Ducati's weren't so expensive to buy and maintain here :(

I do love my R6 now it's sorted though, the 899 is in a different league though

Mine's a bitch to start when it's cold outside. First kick in this sort of weather.

Carburetted bikes tend to be affected by heat as they don't have the ECU controlling the amount of A/F.

Hotter = Leaner Colder = Richer This isn't proportionately, I think it lies on how dense the air is.

I set my carbs up when the weather was average to try and get the best of both worlds all year round, however extreme cold and general heat really does make the idle suffer.

Have to agree with you JP, I've got family in Sherringham and I've taken a bike up there before. It's just the sand that drifts into the road from the banks on the corners that scared the life out of me. Come round a corner and then all of a sudden you're not sure if you're going to get round it

It's the only place I know where National speed limit means 40 and then going into a 30 for a village still means 40!
