What did you do to your bike today?

My external mic arrived for the GoPro.. hoping for 1 last ride out to give it a quick test tomorrow :)

Link to what you bought please? :)

They are awesome. :D

They are indeed, the brakes were my favourite part, never ridden a bike with stopping power like that, the 2011 version that is the revisions before weren't as good.
Just a shame I am a lanky git, far too uncomfortable to commute on.
If I had the spare cash for just a track bike it would be a 675 hands down.

Today I test rode a 2012 Street Triple:

And a 2012 Speed Triple:

I decided to try the Street first since I was already coming from a Speed. I didn't think I'd be on it for very long before deciding it wasn't enough, but surprisingly... I thought it was a great bike and a great ride.

Lower than the Speed, which meant I could actually get both feet down at the same time :p Lighter, so a little bit easier to throw about. Corners just as well as the Speed, if not better. And the breaks were awesome. The gear box was much lighter and smoother than on the Speed too.

And tbh, the 675cc engine was perfectly quick enough at getting to *cough* 70mph. It has a slightly higher frequency buzz about the bars at high speeds, but then so does the Speed Triple, though that's a deeper sort of buzz/vibration.

I took the Speed out 2nd and wasn't really shocked by anything. No major changes at all really, and tbh I think my 2006 Speed Triple is a better ride...

So in conclusion, if I was going to buy a new Triple, it may well be the Street over the Speed

Apparently none of the local Kwak dealers have any demo Z1000's left now. Bit late in the season I guess. I'll try one at some point though :)

I have managed to sort out a test on a Tuono tomorrow, assuming it doesn't rain

Me and a friend test road a new street triple R and a new speed triple back to back last weekend.

I much preferred the street triple R!

I went out on the Speed first and thought it was amazing, rides really smooth, handles well and ample amounts of torque low down. However there just seemed to be a massive lack of power at the top of the rev range. I know this is going to be the case with a triple and coming from a sports inline 4 I'm used to thrashing it and having all the power at the top, I just couldn't get on with the different power band on the speed, I had it bouncing off the limiter quite a few times expecting there to be more than there was.
I suspect I'd soon adapt if I had longer to ride it.

Half way through we swapped bikes and I had a go on the street R and while I thought the Speed was amazing the street R is on a different level! It feels quite a bit smaller than the speed but with that its so much more agile, you can really chuck it around and abuse it but it still handles amazingly well. It feels planted and the stopping power is amazing.
I was expecting it to feel a little under powered compared to the Speed but to my surprise it feels just as perky with loads of torque and best of all it has a higher red line than the Speed and feels a lot more revvy which suited me a lot more.

The only down side to the street was the seat wasn't as comfortable as the speed and I much prefer the look of the single sided swing arm. Another down side to both is the massive amount of wind blast you get, any thing over 80 and your literally hanging on for dear life.

For me the Street triple R wins over the Speed in every way but looks.
Strange thing is for all the reasons I loved the street my friend hated it and much preferred the speed :)

Totally agree with pretty much all of that :)

As for the wind, that's the same on any naked bike really. I have an Ermax insert bolted inside my fly screen which seems to help quite a bit. I can sit comfortably at 90mph all day long np :)

Also prefer the single sided swingarm too. Wonder why they changed that on the Street...

As I was going along a national speed limit road I felt something hit my right foot. I hadn't noticed anything in the road ahead, no cars ahead of me either, so was somewhat perplexed until I got to the cash machine at Tesco and found my throttle side bar end weight had fallen off by cunningly unscrewing itself :(

Went for quite a nice ride this morning, Around 130miles with the bike running perfect after a few problems recently. So was really happy when i've just gone out to the bike and found all my coolant on the back wheel and floor.
It's a '97 zx6r, i can't wait 'till i can buy another bike but with winter coming i don't want to buy a newer bike just yet. Hopefully this will be an easy fix.

So today I tried an Aprilia Tuono:

Didn't really like it to be honest. Although the bike itself was light it felt quite heavy getting it to go around corners. Had to put much more force on the bars to drop her in. Not like the Street/Speed that just drop in naturally.

Fairly rapid up to a ton though, and with gears to spare. Not sure I liked the feel of the engine either. My first big bike was a 2009 ER-6f so I thought I'd get on with the twin, but sadly not.

Found the front break a bit shocking to. Had to apply quite a bit of pressure to get her stopped. Although I think she'd been standing in the showroom for a while, so this got a little bit better as the ride went on.

Won't be buying one of these anyway. Of the naked bikes, Street Triple has it currently. And for sports, loving the Daytona 675 with quickshifter :)

Most Bimmers are too tall for me. I have short legs :( I can only get one foot down at a time on my Speed Triple :p

If the local Piddy's has one in I may see about a ride though :)

I'll think you'll be suprised, im a 5ft2 female and I can get both feet down (not quote flat footed), I think I have an inside leg of 27-28" :)

BMW make factory lowered bikes too, incase you didnt know ;)
