What did you do to your bike today?

Totally overcooked an overtake this morning on a dual carriageway that was dropping down to one lane and then comes into a sweeping bend, my right hand just refused to find my brake lever.
Don't normally start to flap with these things but that was very close to high siding over the kerb and down a hill.
Definite change of boxers needed when I reached the office, I'm sure the guy behind me found it hilarious though, ended up practically stood off the seat at one stage trying to drag it back in line :o

I use the A414 every day for work, but towards Hemel.

I've stopped and helped fellow bikers before with fuel, shame no one stopped :(

First thing I bought for my SV much nicer than peeing about with paddock stands!

I like the abba stand but its not great on the GSXR, the position of it means you have to be a contortionist to get it on because you have to do it with the stand already up!

I only use it when I actually need it, otherwise most jobs I use the paddock stands which are much quicker and easier to use imo.:)

Luckily it attaches nicely with the side stand down on the SV or else me and my little t rex arms would be stuffed!

its barely woken up at that mileage

im noticing some clutch slip at around 10k,can hear the engine note rise and the needle but feel no extra pull/speed:(

so right now its

clutch slip
brake clatter
broken rad switch fan

oh and a slight crack/rip in riders seat, need to do all those and keep ontop of it

Ok after taking my bike to bits & putting it back together God knows how many times now I have Finally ordered a Manual. :p

I'm going to get to the bottom of my petrol leak so intend on stripping down the petcock & either replacing it, fixing it with a service kit or smash it up with a hammer, Any of the above suits me fine.
The petcock on a Vulcan is weird as it doesn't have an "Off" it has "Reserve" "On" & "Prime" & it's not s'posed to let fuel through in the "On" or "Reserve" position when the bikes not running as it works on Vacuum. Well my petcock lets fuel through no matter what position it's in so the first thing to do is sort that out. I need to work out if the leak is being caused by the petcock then if not I'll get the carb off & strip that down find the leak & sort it.
It's not leaking much but I can smell it & it's ******** me off.

How can the starter turn but not crank the engine, unless the sprag clutch is knackered?

With the kill switch engaged, it will prevent the start button being used and also the engine cranking but if you put power straight to the start solenoid it will activate the starter motor but as the kill switch is engaged then the engine still won't crank. I can assume maybe the kill switch cuts signal to the coils.

I bought a battery from Halfords YUASA, you actually have to fill the acid yourself? wtf...
Are there any batteries which are already charged up? I still have amazon prime till tomorrow, so if I order today before 15:00 it could possibly come tomorrow.

Filling it up with acid is normal, depends

It's still decent

The battery is dry charged and you activate it when you fill it with acid, then charge it up,small bikes tend to use them

The MBTZ7S is about 20mm shorter in height so you'd need some foam or a spacer to take up the remaining space but apart from that has exactly the same output as a YTX7L-BS

I have this strip which hold the battery in place anyway, so it should be fine. I wonder if I could get this battery in a local shop, not sure if my local halfords would have it. I need take back this YUNASA back for a refund...

Thanks for the help,

So this is not the battery? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motobatt-MBTZ7S-Motorcycle-Battery-KTM-Duke-125-11-14-/331497978552

BTW Good thing I refreshed this page before buying hahaha.

Edit:

So its this one than? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motobatt-...pgrade-MBTX7U-Replaces-CTX7L-BS-/131053720036

Not sure where you'd find Motobatt battries on the high street, Halfords don't do them.

That battery will work like I said it's exactly the same output as the YUASA one just slightly smaller.

That 2nd one is the one motobatt sell as a direct YTX7L-BS replacement so if that's what you've got at the minute it'll be spot on, M and P also use DPD so it'll be here tomorrow if you order it soon.

Ordered the MBTX7U, now once it stops raining I'll go to halfords for a refund. Hopefully they won't create problems, I have all the bits inside, the packaging hasn't been damaged...

Edit

To commute to work, I'll charge up my old battery through out the night. Its just to get me to work and back, will wait for the GEL. I think this battery hasn't been changed since new, but I'm also curios whenever the stator is ok. Is there a way of checking whenever the stator is actually charging the battery? I'll need to buy a Multimeter, any recommendations on that? :p

Thank for the help! :D
