What did you do to your bike today?

I doubt its your stator on such a new bike, battery IMO

It was doing that before it died, but that's because the fuel pump and other components within the engine rely on electricity.

Edit

I have a local garage which only specialises in bikes, they're cheap and good. That's where I'll get my tyres changed, so will ask him if he could check the stator just to be sure. I don't want to be stuck further from my house than I already was, today we had planned to go to Portsmouth which is around 120 miles from my place, now imagine being stuck down there. So I guess from that bad luck there was some good luck, but why it didn't died when I was riding around town idk...

Edit2

How many of you bikers use Motobatt battery? GEL battery should last longer than acid? 1 year warranty should be enough before changing the bike anyway, I really like the ER6F :D

Gel ones are mainly used if the battery lies tilted or flat,my zx10r has one, they do tend to last longer though than acid

Flat battery like that can be either the battery or the rectifier/regulator,I've never had a stator fail

I replaced my old half dead something or other battery in my SV with a Motobatt one.
Mainly because I'd killed the battery leaving the lights on while I was fiddling with something else so I checked the voltages and it was a bit ropy and I wanted the extra terminals.

I've ordered a new Petcock, 70 quid all in but it'll be well worth it as my one is definitely ******.

My battery lies tilted as that's how the mounting is done, so GEL is better suited for me. :)

Edit

Rosso 2's bought, now I just need new break pads for the front and back. Any particular manufacture to buy from?

Dark coloured cars must have their bulbs removed on days like today, absolutely peeing down visibility is crap and even worse when you're getting spray left right and center from anything on the road and yet the cars that could really do with some extra visibility are the exact ones that seem to have developed an aversion to putting their lights on!?

Yeah it's always silver, or grey cars that don't put their lights on when it's foggy, or grey, or raining  They literally dissappear into the mist and spray.

It's the same with pedestrians in winter, when it's dark and wet, and they wear all black... in the dark.

No one wants to be stuck in Portsmouth....;)

True that! :D

Why?

Now I just need some new headlight bulbs and break pads...

Is there any point in changing the air filter, since it was changed around 1500 miles ago? I was thinking of buying K&N air filter, more air maybe some flames from a little 125? haha :p

My mates SD990 with Akrapovic. This bioke is a beast, although the front is ugly. :p

What light bulbs would you recommend than?

Edit:

I'll leave air filter till current one gets dirty, than I'll justify the cost of K&N over OEM. :p

No idea on bulbs, only tried osram nightbreaker, I wouldn't mind a hid kit next

Don't put a higher wattage bulb in either,it will melt your headlight

I checked on KTM forums, these bulbs are ok for the KTM.

How much is it for tyre fitting? I'll give a call to my local bike garage and check, hope he doesn't quote me anything ridiculous...

Edit:

£25 per wheel on the bike, £15 per wheel of the bike. LOL

Motobat batteries are not gel, they are AGM (absorbent glass matt) which many other brands also make. Gel batteries are less common, usually more expensive and can be less reliable since degradation will start from the moment they are manufactured rather than when the acid is added by the end user or battery dealer.

I have a Motobat in my Fireblade and I had one in my previous Aprilia RSV and they both worked perfectly,

£20 usually if wheel is in bike,£10 for a loose wheel, that's how much I pay atm

That's what I found out from the quick google, not sure why they want an additional fiver... do you buy tyres from them or online?

Someone previously said GEL and it got stuck in my mind, yeah it does sam AGM on the battery itself. :p

That's great to hear, I watched some vids yesterday and most people seem to say only good things about it. :)

From online,oponeo are good

The cheap MF batteries are decent, one in my zx6 must be 3 years old now atleast

I bought mine from Tyreleader, used them once and they were quick. They also seem to have the best prices out of the online retailers.
