What did you do to your bike today?

My alternator/stator...

That'll do it!

Took the back end off mine last night as it's become hard to start again as the starter is strugling. Took a small screwdriver to all the plugs feeding from reg/rect and scratched up the connections and then WD40'd for good measure.

Tested with multi meter and it is a bit down on voltage when revving but I'm not expecting much as the battery was pretty low when I started.
However it must have done the job as it started 5 times one after another so easily after leaving it idle for a 3-4 mins.

I think she just wanted some attention tbh :p

The Blackbird needed a full service so it got:

New Brake fluid all round
New clutch fluid
New spark plugs
Forks serviced
Valve clearance adjusted
New steering head bearings

Took me quite a few weekends but glad it is all done now. Learned a lot in the process.

Nothing better than knowing how much cash you saved by doing it yourself.

The point I was trying to make is that they stopped replying me after I've started quoting bits from their policy and Consumer Rights Act. I'm not in a rush, as long as I get a full compensation its ok.

That's probably the quickest way to p*** off anyone that works in customer service; quoting their own policy and your rights at them.

Why would that matter if it does? They are employed to help/manage relations...if they don't help etc they shouldn't have that job

Because throwing your toys out of your pram if they haven't replied within 2 hours is silly, considering they are a global brand. The fact he even got a same day reply on his original email should have been more than enough.

The funny thing is, their reason for refusing to refund me is something that's not in any policy or legal act.

If they carry on like this, I'll take this one step further as currently they're breaking the consumer act.

I don't care when they reply, its the fact that they don't have a valid reason for not refunding my order...:mad:

Edit

It's the same story when I ask for their managers e-mail address, they refuse to provide it to me. So clearly a mistake has been made, which is not my fault and now they're trying to discourage me from fighting for full refund including shipping charges of returning the goods/products. I won't give up though... the law is on my side thankfully :)

Edit2:

Contacted Citizen Advice, I've been told that they're breeching the contract which they're obliged by if they want to sell their goods within the UK. I've also been advised to contact ECC, they're closed now. But that's my next step tomorrow, I still don't understand why a company would go through so much hassle just for the couple quid it costs them for shipping...

Well... mine is ginger that would explain why she burned the stator, instead of just developing a minor issue which could be fixed with WD40...

Edit:

I'm just joking, I have nothing against ginger people. :p

Fitted the straps for my kriega US30 tonight, brilliant bit of kit. To test it out I packed it wth a 2 man tent, small sleeping back, pair of trainers and a lunchbox and there was still room in there.

With the US30 on my bike and the R30 on my back the rucksack will sit on top of the US30 slightly, which should take all weight off my chest. Got given an Oxford expanding tank bag at the weekend too 28l in size with a few pockets, so that's nearly 90 litres of luggage space :D

Tent, sleeping bag, inflatable mattress and a few other small bits will go in the US30. clothes, pair of shoes, wash bag and general stuff will go in the R30, with electronics, waterproofs (I'll pick up a cheap £3 roll bag for my waterproofs to keep the wet away from everything else) and bits and bobs (camera/chagers etc) will go in the tank bag.

If I do any longer trips down to the alps on this bike I'd probably get a couple of US20's to attach to the US30, and ditch the R30.

I've got an r35 backpack plus a us20 and 2 us10s, I've got the loops attached under my pillion seat and my us20 is always strapped to the front of my r35 so I've got easy access to an extra 20 liters if I decide to do some shopping.

I've not hooked up the full 10 20 10 setup on the bike yet but I've got no reason not to think it wouldn't be absolutely solid so that's 75 liters of luggage which should be more than enough for any trip I'll make.

The kriega kit isn't cheap but it's brilliant quality and I blame the people in this forum for getting me hooked on such expensive luggage!

MT-03 is being added to the range, I wonder what the price will be since you can pretty much grab a brand new MT07 for 4.8k...

Yeah, it starts out with just one thing and before you know it you've several hundred quids worth of luggage :D

Things like a 10 year warranty mean it's money well spent, I use my rucksack for 90 minutes a day, 5 days a week, the hours soon mount up. I just need to fine tune my mounting straps, as my seat (one piece) doesn't go all the way to the back of the bike, so if I was to mount it longways it would partly be where I sit, the mounts are all under the seat. There are a couple of external luggage eyes at the back so I might end up attaching it to them. Mounted sideways it's perfectly fine, but obviously I can't do the US30 + 2x US20/10 combo that way.

After dropping the VFR sunday i spend most of the last 2 days repairing the fairing and buying paint to respray it.

Yeah too right. It's great going for a ride afterwards knowing you are the one that got it back on the road.

Or in my case get it out on the road and realise you hadn't seated the rear caliper on the swing arm properly and it's now just hanging in mid air :o
