What did you do to your bike today?

Aww man! That sucks. Lucky you didnt lean too hard on the right or could have gone a lot worse

I know very lucky, there are only two big right handers and to be fair I was stuck behind cars for them so lean angle was minimal.

bad luck Fireskull mate, did it happen as you were riding I guess? That could have ended badly..

I think motorway speeds dragged the fluid out, I noticed the rear brake felt crap as soon as I set off from home but put it down to the bloody cold and crap standard pads, but further on in the journey it was still rubbish and probably me stamping on the brake did not help :D
When I stopped at some light I did look down and there was no fluid at that point, pre motorway section.
Then when I got to work I was going to check the pads etc but upon seeing the rear tyre like that it was slightly obvious then :p
I did have to check it was not oil though as I did my clutch on the weekend so a bit of relief that it wasn't my engine loosing oil!

At least you don't need the rear brake to be able to ride it home.

Yea I don't have any tools at work or at the flat so will stop off in-between at my dads place and drain all the fluid out, I need the bike to get to work this week so as long as nothing is dragging might risk using the bike with no rear brake until I can fit new seals on the weekend....

had my nail removed and puncture fixed, also had another puncture so 2 in total £17.50

@Fireskull you dont need to drain all the fluid? just keep the res cap on and pop out the seals and dust seal, shoulbe easier to bleed once new seals are in

I managed to have another quick look on my lunch break, now that everything has dried off it appears it might not be the piston seals, the fluid is coming from the banjo bolt!?!
I have no spanners here but the bolt is tighter than finger tight, but slightly worrying why that's leaking, I changed the rear brake line a while ago now, new everything at the time and torqued up correctly.
Seems a hell of a lot of fluid considering the bolt appears to still be pretty tight...

it does looklike its coming from the bolt tho in the pic

did you use a new copper washer? heat it up till it glows red and dunk it in some cold water then re use it

Heat the copper washer?

Yes definitely used two new copper washers as I have a bag full of them, might replace them both again tonight when I give it a bleed if it turns out its just the bolt.

anyone want too give me a tip on how to get wheel bearings back into the hub again?

I heated up the wheel hub....but I got nothing wide as the bearing and I don't want too hammer the bearing in if that makes sense?

they go off with age and stiff,if you get them red hot and immerse them in cold water they soften up and seal better

find the biggest round socket you can and tap them in

Have you got a socket that's the same diameter as the outer race? then just hammer the back of the socket, that way you wont damage the bearings.

Put the bearings in the freezer over night and like said above get the same size socket and hammer them in.

Another 2,000 miles and my rear tyre is pretty much bald again. I will change it over the winter.

I gave the bike a damn good clean after 200 miles of riding this weekend. I doubt it will see much more action this year.

Realised I've not been on the bike for over two weeks now and can't due to me doing the drive... as I've now not got a way of getting the bike from the garage to the drive rofl...unless I ride down a ramp i.e.
