What did you do to your bike today?

Do you still needed to scrub messy bits? Is it quicker than spraying with water, spraying with cleaning detergent, scrubbing messy bits and rinsing, drying?

On some spots where you couldn't see plastic a tiny bit of rubbing yes. But still quicker than using the traditional bucket method, although if your motorcycle was really dirty after offroading I don't think this method is good. The microfibre got so dirty after cleaning all that mud I had to throw it in the bin...

For 4 quid you can't go wrong, try it see if it'll work for your bike and how dirty you get it. I'm lazy and prefer this way, it would probably help if I rinse the bike first from the mud build up. But I seriously couldn't be bothered to go down to shell for a jet wash.

Wouldn't the mud encrusted cloth scratch all your paintwork?

Could never fathom those waterless cleaners, just use the real thing and wash all the dirt and grit away

Nope, my lower parts are all black plastic, only 1 part has paint on but it came off nicely and there're no scratches.

BTW I need some new bulbs to go in my duke, the current ones are too yellow...

I was thinking of OSRAM W5W 4000K and H4 4200K, or should I buy the alternative from Philips? I'm looking for white effect that'll improve the vision.

I've only used osram nightbreaker they are brighter than the standard bulb but still yellow, no idea with those you posted

The new microfibres are awesome at collecting all the dirt and drying the surface afterwards. They're also really gentle, no scratches what so ever... I was going to take picture of the dirty bike and after cleaning but I rushed through it quickly and only remembered when I logged in on the forum.

BTW Today a guy in Astra nearly hit me, he was existing a roundabout and started going to the left literally on the exit... Why do people do that? You can carry on the 2nd lane which you're suppose to take anyway, don't just change lanes without looking ffs... I used the horn and revv'ed the bike, horn did F all and my loud exhaust saved me on this one.

Edit

The horn on the duke is pathetic, sounds like a little 50cc moped...

he was existing a roundabout

Was he? :D

Anyway that's why I hate when people go round a roundabout with me and I always hang back rather than go round side by side. I can't tell you how many near misses I've had over the years from people who just decide that they want the 3rd or 4th exit even though they've entered the roundabout from the left lane.

Adjusted throttle adjuster to remove freeplay and swapped out the standard throttle tube on my Street Triple R for the one from the speed triple, which is larger diameter cam so less twist for full throttle. Quicker throttle response seems fun! Great mod, especially for £10. :)

I need to do that to the duke, the current throttle twist is ridiculous!

BTW Meet some people on 125's, went with them for a wheelie practice. 1 guy had a duke and other had an Husqvarna SM, the guy on that SM was killing it. The duke is not the best for wheeling... not enough power.

Its scary, you need to roll at 3-4mph, push in the front dampers let go of the clutch at around 9k, as soon as it goes twist the throttle to the max. I can't keep the bike straight it constantly drifts to the left, not bad for first time though. So much fun! I want an SM now, that thing is made for wheelies. :D

Edit:

Can't wait for the Xiaomi Yi, to see how far I can get it up. The guy on SM has been practising for 2 months and he can do a proper wheelie, the guy on duke practised for 2-3 weeks. Apparently at every attempt where the clutch+throttle timing was good I progressed with how high the wheel went. :p

60th Anniversary R1 edition, what do you guys think? I quite like it, yellow usually looks like puke... not in this case imo!

Looks really good IMO in yellow, but the new R1 looks a bit plasticky and uncoordinated generally - too many bits of non-matched metallic grey tones. Would look much classier if it were black for the engine bits and then coloured fairings. Looks too chintzy for a 15k bike.

Installed a new bash plate.

Ah to be young and have balls. I'm way too scared to even enter a roundabout at the speeds some kids on scooters do, I'm constantly left behind on the twistys by Learners & food delivery folk. Long ago I knew I'd never intentionally wheelie a bike, mainly for the reason that I just can't afford to wreck mine and I know 100% I'd injure myself.

I got down on a roundabout to the point where I was scraping with my pegs, but my current tyres provide no grip! The amount of times my back has been sliding, in wet the whole bike just drifts... :p

But yeah, another option to put into the mix is an SM, I'll swap with that guy to see if I like the riding position.

BTW just cameback from a car meet, there was a new mustang, i8, lots and lots of scoobies, evos and AE86 Levin, S13 and S14. There were the chavy corsas and other crappy cars. But thankfully they stayed away from the Jap's... I kind of want a car, but I can't afford the car's I want... where as the bikes are a different story. :)
