What did you do to your bike today?

OK so you are carrying 50KG less weight but have 45.1 less HP at the rear wheel, 58 Nm less torque. Are you sure they are really gunning it?

The super blackbird used to be the fastest production bike around... but then again it could be a case of you hitting your top speed faster

could be its a twisty road where a 600 with a confident skilled rider can best a more cautious rider on a big heavy rocket.

Insurance renewal came through for my zx6r £87:p

I am was thinking of buying a CBR 600 RR 2011, bike worth around £5000... the cheapest quote I got for insurance was £2200 (doing under 3000 miles per year, £400 excess and with 3 years NCB)

I found a cheaper insurance £1472 but the excess is £1100.

I put its value down at £1500 but more likely worth a grand tbf,65.500 miles so far

2011 zx6r was £140,but I could get that cheaper probably, that was with mce,Bennett's are usually cheaper

That's with 11 years ncb,think I was paying around £130 on an 04 zx10r

@Drangueos the only way you would save was to go for an older machine

Felt so close to getting my knee down then the person in the cage in front decided they wanted to stop to merge... cue me full lean attempting to slow down quickly... not fun.

Also had a guy in an SUV refuse to let me merge, when I gave it a rev so he'd look at me all I got was a "FU" and a finger.. then he tried to tailgate me as close as possible in stop start traffic. We were waiting for him to hit me.... would have either smacked him or notified the 2 state troopers 200feet up the road :D

the model I want was made between 2010 and 2012, the problem is that I don't have a garage, so basically a CBR600RR parked on the street has a 99.99% chance of been stolen
my option is to move, as I don't have a garage, if I had a locked garage the insurance would be £800 or less

I was even thinking about buying the bike and keeping it in a storage until I move, because I still can get the model I want with less than 5k miles and 1st owner.

This is the one i want: http://www.westcoasthonda.com.au/2010/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/2010-cbr600rr.jpg

Its a nice machine, any neighbours nearby who you could rent garage space from? That £2200 quote is silly

No way I'd pay that,£800 is about right but still steep for 3 years ncb

If its the bike you want then get it and store it somewhere, relatives ect

I forgot your in London so that won't help lower your insurance I'm guessing

Jesus... now check alternative naked bike to the cbr and you'll see it around 500-700 mark if not less.

BTW The forum is playing up, wtf are they doing?

Edit:

I did a quote on GSX-R 600 SRAD and it came out £1280.44 TPFT, 3rd Party only was £1061.71. Not bad, right? I see a white GSXR around where I live all the time, the SRAD version. I like the sound of it, the only thing that annoys me is the back. But for the price you can't argue, now time to do some research on how trouble-free they're.

yeah the back end looks huge, but that's the style

why not pick a zx6r g1/g2 or j1/j2 model? the b1h/c1h models aint bad either 2004/2005 I think

trouble when they get old like that the brakes and suspension need spending on/overhauling the engines are fine

The bike can't be more than 94bhp stock, that's the problem... otherwise I would just get a more modern GSXR like the K7 or K8. :(

Edit

Kawasaki ZXR400 is an option :p and Honda VFR400R (NC30)

Couldn't tell if he was really pushing it but he really wanted to race, I do the roads everyday and they are far from long straights, I was expecting to be smoked as I know the blackbirds quite well.

In other news came off today :(

On a roundabout someone to the left of me let a van out, I noticed, braked, front lock on a nice patch of diesel and i used her tyre and myself as a cushion for my bike as it went down :( broke my mirror and brake lever clean off scratched my exhaust and exhaust protection, crash mushrooms and also bent my gear selector a bit. All happened at about 5 mph.

Have a look at all the bikes the Abba supports, most of the time you just need a £10 attachment and it'll work on another bike. From what I've seen itll work on just about every sports or naked.

depends on the bike,i paid £22 for my adaptors, wasnt any listed on ebay, though you might save some used if you can find any

@Controller sorry to hear you come off it,should be able to straighten it out?

scratches will polish out if its stainless steel, remove and heatup the gear lever and bend it back?

you can't just go on stats
on the road there are a lot of variables

I love this feeling, An older guy on a 1100 blackbird pulled up to me once at a level crossing, i nodded, he kept revving his engine to engage in a race, i ignored him all through the 30 zones till the national speed limits where it was very clear it was game on, he pinned it... so i let him catch up to me 5 miles later whilst i waited for him at a roundabout, he pulled up looking my bike all over to see what it was (i didn't have any fairings on) he told me he was shocked and my bike was very quick, he asked me what bike i had, i laughed and told him it was only a 600, he got angry and sped off :D

Ive owned both bikes and a Blackbird will leave a '97 CBR600 for dead everywhere....both riders being equal

yeah I agree, but then he could have bottled it? I don't think they would be that good in the corners either esp being an oldish machine now

the wally I raced couldn't get the power down it kept wheelying as I was looking back at him in my mirrors

Not mine ;) he probably backed off on a few bends where i get on it, i don't disagree a blackbird wont spank a cbr 6, i know pound for pound it will, either way i'm still taking this victory, he was genuinely shocked and then annoyed at my mocking tone
