What did you do to your bike today?

I'm waiting for Mini HDMI to HDMI cable, the camera is out of focus. :( I'm in at work till 22:00 tomorrow, I'll sort out the mount on my helmet on Friday. But I'll probably upload some videos later this week depending on when the cable comes in.

BTW What tyres do you have on your duke? I think the new tyres raised the bike a little and now I can go further (smaller chicken strips), but I still have this weird feeling of going down with the bike when I start to scrape with my boots.

Edit

Oh yeah, did you fit the new tail tidy? :D

It's Friday today :p Why not pick one up from Maplin or somewhere local?

This is on the back

and this is the front

No idea about tyres so whether they are good or not, i couldn't say lol. :p

Nope not yet lol :D Maybe tomorrow if i get out of bed early enough ;)

Get them swapped, they're dangerous in wet... no grip at all I leaned once and the bike drifted on a roundabout. My current tyres seem better, they're so grippy! :D The bike wants to lean everywhere, even in low speeds :D

Edit

BTW

Get that tail tidy on that bike tomorrow, don't be lazy... I would get the cable from maplin but its 15 quid+, the cable ordered from ebay is 2 quid. That's 2 fill ups for my duke right there :p

:p What tyres do you recommend? No budget. :)

Depends on the weather, if it's nice i'll be out all day on it. ;)

With the sizes 110/70 R17 and 150/60 R17 we don't have much choice, I originally ordered Pirelli Diablo Rosso 2's. But there was this thing where I'm still waiting for my money for the wrong tyre, the banks is doing their investigation and other BS... I found a great deal on Oponeo at £100 for a set of Michellin Pilot's.

The main 3 are porbably:

Pirelli Diablo Rosso 2
Michellin Pilot
Dunlop Sportmax
Metzler

I'm really not the best person to ask what tyres to buy, but guys on here seem to favour Pirelli in general. Michellin seems to get decent reviews and for a 125 I was looking at something safe but not extreme.

BTW Any tyre from a decent manufacture will feel like it had superglue on it compared to those indonesian tyres...

Your list of the main 3 has 4 recommendations :D :p

It's a shame you can't get Angel GT's in these sizes :(

I'm tired and its late, okaay? :p

Yeah it is, but I'm still suprsied on the reviews on how grippy and long lasting they're since they're 1 compound only.

BTW Here's a photo of my quick 10 mile ride from the mechanics and Suzuki dealer. I don't think I'll get rid of these chicken strips this year, I don't want to crash the bike just before selling it and doing A2... I'm only a poor student :p

Quite a difference, right? :D

Edit:

I know that I ignored the warning by wazza and the mechanic, but those tyres just ask you to lean in the corner. Its so hard to resist! :D

Definitely a big difference, where did you order from? Now you mention it, i do feel like i'm floating when it comes to riding in the wet :p

And no it's not ok, there aren't any excuses ;)

AVOID TyreLeader, buy from Oponeo. Their service has been brilliant, wazza recommended them to me. Oh yeah, thanks wazza! :D

BTW It'll feel really weird for the first 15 min on new tyres, but the comfort, quality and confidence decent tyres give you is so much worth it! I don't know how they'll behave in wet, I plan on running them in before it starts to rain.

I also changed the bulbs to Osram, there's a difference. It also looks cooler, but I regret not going for HID kit. I saw a guy on duke today, chased him and he had HID's on the difference after lining up the bikes was there. I'm not entirely sure about MOT, as I forgot to ask...

Oi! That's my excuse.

But I'm still amazed by the tyres, the guy before me didn't lean at all which resulted in square tyres. I only found out they're square when a Kawasaki agent had a look at my KTM, he also told me that new tyres will improve your confidence. Learnt my lesson, listen to advice form people who have been riding for years. :p

Probably best upgrade made to this bike so far, I wonder how some of those more expensive tyres perform e.g. Pirelli Angel GT or Dunlop Sportmax Q3.

So i'm looking at 2 new tyres, i'll order some new bulbs too, should i get the hid kit?

Trust me you won't regret getting rid of those death traps called MRF, the HID Kit is brighter and uses less power. I regret not going for it, it just a simple plugin, you plug in the connector that goes into your bulb into a little box, from that box you have cables which connect to the bulb provided in the kit and that's it. If you look at my previous post there's a link to the parking light Osram bulb, but for the main beam get HID. ;)

Edit

BTW Where about's do you live? If not too far away we could go on a ride some day. :)

Same tyres as mine? I don't really have a comparison to anything apart from MRF's, I'm just sharing my newbie experience with them. :p

Too far away for a little 125, maybe on bigger bikes in the future. ;)

I'm not too sure about the tyres yet, I don't think mine needs changing, they have loads of tread left and they do grip well. :)

Definitely need to do something with the lights though, I don't rate them at all, not too sure what I need to buy though lol :p

I'm going out tomorrow and recording some footage with my camera, if I'm not happy I'm going to order a Different one. :)

Yeah maybe when we are both riding bigger bikes, not restricted by motorways then :) where are you originally from?

No such thing as too far!

One of the guys on my DAS training went from Wolverhampton to Cornwall on his 125 then spent the week riding down there and came back, he did say the return journey took 16 hours though  but I think that was because his mates bike just gave up :D

Think I might pick some of this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3D-CARBON...0423490?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368#shpCntId up on payday and do my hugger, should look better and not attract quite so much dirt as the shiny black it is now.

One shiny new rear shock fitted and no swearing. Nearly swore when it came off the abba stand and nearly rolled over onto my head :D

I have the pirelli diablo rosso 2 on my Duke and they appear to have a massive amount of grip available even in the wet.

EDIT: Front tyre is not a pirelli its a MRF what ever the hell one of them is.
