What did you do to your bike today?

Grrrrr, insurance is ridiculous.

A guy at work got banned from Jan until November for drink driving this year. He just got a quote on a ZX6R for £200 (granted it's an older cheaper one). How the f does he get cheaper insurance that ANYBODY that hasn't been ban for DRINK DRIVING?!?!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, but come on, they've got be realistic. The guy at work is 5 years older than me, 1 year no claims (he had a CBT at the time and just kept it insured for the NCB) and a few years older than Clovis, got ban for drink driving for a year and still gets cheaper insurance than us?

Of course an old ZX6R is going to be cheaper than my new Speed, but still I don't see how they can deem a drunk driver as 'safer' than me just because of age. I got a quote on the same bike myself out of interest when he told me and my price was the same/very similar. So him: 1 year NCB, not even 1 year licence (he hasn't got his cat A yet), 5 years older, banned for drink driving for a year. Same insurance as me with a 100% clean licence, 4 years NCB and 3 years cat A.

Surely insuring somebody who is careless enough to drink drive is MUCH more risk than a young person? I guess not on their silly stats.

Ohh,it's a pain for new riders I agree

Think I paid around £800 for my new zx6r but that was years ago,2k is ridiculous

Idk how you'd get it any cheaper, unless you went for an older bike but who wants that

2013 ZX6-R :( These are the only 2 quotes offered.

Try Bikesure. Got my CBR600RR (2006) insured with them when I was 24 (25 now). £825 3rd party F&T with 0 ncb, 1st road bike ever with breakdown cover. Have 8 years ncb on car but doubt that had anything to do with it.

It just annoys me that they screw you so bad because of age.

My Speed is costing me £700 for the year insurance. Fortunately it's affordable for me, but I bet a late 20s or 30+ year old could get it way cheaper even without the no claims & few years experience

I guess I'm happy to pay my insurance cos I love the bike so much, but that doesn't stop me getting annoyed and someone older, with barely any NCB or experience and a conviction has similar or better insurance pricing to me and someone like Clovis. It's completely retarded.

And yes, to answer your question, a cheaper older bike would be cheaper. My hornet would be £100 TPFT lol

Bought myself some boot straps to stop my textile pants riding up over my boots.
Only £4 from the bay, the clips are plastic but they seem pretty sturdy and do what they are supposed to do.

Clovis, have you looked at insurance on something like a Hornet? still a load of fun (100hp), but older ones aren't worth that much and they are cheap to insure as it's not deemed a hooligans bike I guess. Probably their retard computers making it lower because not many people have crashed the Hornet or something.

It's being a new machine I guess,I don't think I've ever bought fully comp,just tpft

The 04,05,06 zx6r's are ddecent bikes aswell worth a quote on one

I do like the look of that, don't really know too much about them though, bloke i work with has one so could maybe have a go on his, i don't mind paying the stupid insurance for the right bike, it just annoys me that i'm paying almost half the cost of the bike :(

I had my Hornet on my 1st year of 'proper' biking, so had 1 year NCB and was 22 for around £250 TPFT, so definitely worth getting some quotes on a Hornet (or something like it if another naked takes your fancy).

Are you sure you weren't putting something wrong in to GoCompare? They all compare against the same companies, maybe with a few small differences, but they all have the popular ones - MCE, Bikesure, etc. I always get the same result from GoCompare and Confused. Not sure what that site is in the screenshot, but the companies on there are the same as the results I always get.

Comparison sites can be a rip off either way, so might be a good idea to ring around as well.

Or just got with devitt, 10% off sportsbikeshop :D

Everything was exactly the same on both sites, GC only offered me 2 quotes, that quote above is with 'The Bike Insurer' - TPFT came back @ £189 too!

Do yourself a favour Clov!s and phone some of them up!

I was getting quotes online up to 6 grand on my trike lol, in reality it's under
£200 for comprehensive with breakdown, legal, protected no claims ect.

I'm going to stick with that website i tried. :) I'll buy the bike first and worry about insuring it once i have it home lol :p

You need to make sure which make/model and style of bike you really want tbf, online quotes will give you a rough idea of prices but they change constantly,

I used to ring em up and play one off the other and see if they could better it,but its no good doing that till you have the machine and your ready to insure it
