What did you do to your bike today?

Heads up for anyone looking to buy a tomtom rider (I though they were bringing out a new one but doesn't look like it, the current ones were only release this year), Halfords are currently doing the rider 400 for £235 - and you can claim a free car mount worth £40 from tomtom directly.

£235 on the website when you check out :)

Yep, the extra 15% off gets added in your basket.

But I swear the EICMA (milan show where all the new bikes have been launched) website said a new one is due http://www.eicma.it/en/2015/11/tomtom-rider/

TomTom will unveil at EICMA 2015 its all-new TomTom Rider edition. Designed especially for bikers, this portable navigation device will celebrate its 10th Anniversary. TomTom Rider has been designed to give motorcycle passionates the opportunity to choose the kind of route they prefer to ride, from the fastest to the most scenic to their own ad hoc route.
“Winding Roads” mode allows bikers to select routes with bends for an even more exciting ride.
TomTom’s “Upload Routes and Go” mode, instead, enables motorcyclists to upload favourite routes, captured online, to the TomTom Rider device. These routes can then be shared online with other riders. Routes can be visualized while riding simply rotating the device: in doing so, the biker can always get an overall view of the road. Until December 31, TomTom Rider 40 and TomTom Rider 400 will be available with the car mounting kit (this comes for free). Visit TomTom at EICMA 2015, Pavilion 24, Booth Q 83

The deal is on til Thursday so might be worth holding fire a few days in case new one comes out.

What's the difference between this and a car sat nav? I don't see why the charge such premium, unless you're riding a adventure/enduro bike and also use offroads which are included in the sat nav and other fancy stuff...

Reviews suck a bit on Amazon! I would consider one if I didn't already have my old phone with the TomTom software on it.

Robustness, waterproof, bike connectors (to go into battery directly), anti glare, some come with a shield thing over the top to help block the sun, use with gloves (although that shouldn't make it expensive as that'd just be a resistive touch screen).

That being said, I have my old iPhone 4 in a waterproof case with a £30 mount that came with all the cables and it does the job perfectly, no fancy anti glare or anything, just waterproof. Technically it was free for me as the phone was old and not doing anything else. Only problem with it is I can't update it which might become a problem over time :(

I would get one if there were around £120, that seems like a fair price. Not a bargain, but neither expensive...

What about 6x4 numberplate? I've been doing some reading around the forums and quite a few people run 6x4 and have never been pulled over or fined for it.

Plus car ones have no bluetooth audio, and you get the winding/hilly roads thing. Work with gloves, motorbike specific mounting, etc.

But yeah they are quite a lot more than a normal car one, the equivalent car version is £120

Get it sewn into the back of your jacket haha,6x4 should be OK but plod can still pull you and fine you if they want to

£30 and 3 points at a guess?

They can give you a ticket to get it put right as well and the mot place has to stamp it with his stamp, that costs £10
