What did you do to your bike today?

Cheaper than trading in tho :D

This is the Dilemma i'm facing with my 10R, it's now over 4 years old, has 10,000miles on it but it's still stupidly fast and mental to ride, so i'm having doubts over spending another 5k trading in for a newer bike. I think I may just spend 1k or so modding to get it the way i want it and keep it for a few more years.

Currently on the list to be purchased this year:

Akrapovic link pipe - Purchased
-1 front / +1 rear sprockets & chain
HEL brake lines
SBS pads
R-55 exhaust to replace my damaged Akrapovic
HM Quickshifter
Nitron / Ohlins TTX rear shock
Front Springs to match

..and thinking about a Bazzaz on top of that if money allows.

Oh, and remove the bloody alarm... the thing does my head in.

Almost got knocked off, was only a few meters from my house stopped at the end of my road waiting to turn right on to the main, the car I was waiting for coming from my left decided to turn in my lane.

He swerved and stopped a foot from my left leg and ended up on the left of me, so it wasn't an issue of him cutting the corner he turned into the wrong lane and almost wiped me out.

He was apologetic and I was ***** bricks, thing is my water proofs have a bright yellow strip down the side, and street is well lit

-1 +1 on a ZX10? are you insane?

Do it properly and get a set of Carbon Fibre wheels, £2500 well spent :D

Has anyone taken the CAT out of their exhaust? Down pipes are silly expensive and I can imagine I'd also need a power commander to alter the fuelling, any experiences?

Would ideally need mapping. Much more responsive if I still had my race bike id show you the difference in throttling between a standard and full system with map.

Without the map you risk burning valves.

Interested to see what you think of the Bazzaz kit and if the TC is worth its salt in race mode

Yeah a little optimistic doing it all for 1k, probably looking at closer to 2k.

The modern 10r's are like a 600cc below 8, 000rpm, its a common mod to change the gearing. I want some low doen grunt!

When I took a 2012 one out for a test ride I found the throttle was extremely long, twisting as much as much CBR just didn't feel quick, then I found the extra bit and the front came straight up, scared the life out of me.

Yeah once it kicks it then the thing takes off. When I first got on it I thought the same as you... 'where is the power..... oh, there it is!!'.

p.s. excuse my typing in the previous post.. I was on my phone.

My blackbird is just being delivered back to me now.

New thermostat, bent bar ends removed from where I come off in the ice and it wouldnt unscrew, winter check over and had the heated grips sorted (they were slipping).

Looking forward to the ride home :)

Was in the same boot a year ago mate. Didnt like the look of any of the new bikes out so spent a bit of cash on upgrades instead

-Ohlins rear shock off the bay
-Brembo master cylinder
-Sent forks off to Maxton for new internals be resprung, new valves and bumpstops and serviced for my weight
-Send Ohlins rear off to Maxton to be resprung and serviced for my weight
-New front sprocket - 1
-New EBC sintered pads

That little lot didnt cost the earth but totally transformed the bike. Handles like a dream now.

I WAS going down that route, but I came across a deal this week that was to good to turn down . I had a test ride this morning and it's safe to say I will be swapping if all goes to plan. More info/pics this week hopefully :D

Applied some ACF-50 Motorcycle And Automotive All Metal Anti-Corrosion Spray onto Eric... washed him down, applied this stuff everywhere for the next couple of months now he's parked outside on the drive. Cleaned all the locks out, blah blah... just gave him some tender care and let him idle in the cold for 20 minutes ;-)
