What did you do to your bike today?

It was a lot easier when I was buying a 125 lol, where do you draw the line?

For £4400 I can get a 2011/12 with the twin exhausts, loads of extras and roughly 12k miles from the ones I've found, but then when you increase the budget to £4800 you can get 2013 models with 10k miles and the new shape, but for the extra £200 up to £5000 you can get a 2013 675r, but then I think to myself, why spend £5k when for £5600 I can get a 2014 :p :(

Ahh, budget creep :D Street triples are pretty darn cheap, but prices are a bit all over the place. On ebay, there's a 2012 white non R with 5500 miles, and arrow cans for £5300, and right above it, a 2014 non R in that lovely green colour, with 800 miles, for £5900.

Get some bloody test rides done then at least you can disregard the bikes you don't like, you may find a naked isn't for you, or a sportbike isn't for you, or even that you like v-twins over IL4 and triples.

You realise it's like a a kid in a candy shop with anything over £4-5k budget? there are just far too many nice bikes out there!

Depends on your budget and how much you think bikes are worth spending on,I'm yet to spend more than £4.500 on a bike, anymore and you might aswell stick to a car where your warm and dry imo

I try to buy bikes like I buy cars. Get a budget in mind and look for the absolute best example I can find for my money. The problem comes when you don't have an open mind and you're set on a model or features, then the budget creeps. I got lucky with the NC700 as that was just over budget and the dealership let it go cheaply as they sold Harley's and I guess didn't want a Honda on their books, otherwise I don't wanna think how far I'd have gone over to get it.

I'm going to set my budget at £5k and try to find the best example i can.

Is condition and service history more valuable than miles and age?

I'd say condition trumps everything, provided you're getting the model you want (i.e. an older one may not have some of the features of a newer one)

With the Street Triples the older versions are better, as long as you're not too bothered about ABS. 2012 is the best of the lot with the better weight distribution for wheelies, "bug eye" lights and the under seat exhausts.

That's making the search a lot easier, for £4K there a a lot of options ranging from all years between 08-12, the extras that I'd want, ABS would be nice but it's not essential, I'm certainly not going to pay over the odds to try and get one with ABS.

Yeah they made the first gear a lot longer didn't they, less wheelies :D

I'd want a bug not round eye model, with the newer speedo (old ones had the speed in the middle of the rpm gauge which looks horrible) and underseat pipes, preferably a set of arrows :D

I don't think I'll be pulling wheelies anyway, unless they are unavoidable :D

Yeah I want the twin cans, belly pan, front screen and the newer version speedo, preferably in grey or white!

That's why the 2012 is the best. It's the non-neutered version, along with the superior underseat exhausts and bug-eye lights.
