What did you do to your bike today?

Do you mean with any Muffs or just the Tucano ones?

Looking at motorcycle accidents on Youtube and the way people ride generally while car drivers don't look I can't deny the motorcyclists speed, so they cause the accident but I suppose we're often responsible for the severity.

Any muffs :) You simply don't need winter gloves if you have heated grips and muffs. My hands were nearly too warm, heated grips getting a little too hot this morning and tonight on the ride to work, and it was a couple of degrees max this morning. I wear held racetex gloves, which are perforated too.

A lot is down to luck, hitting the kerb at the wrong angle and it can be all over :(

On to happier things - do we reckon £202 is a decent deal for a TomTom rider 400? :D Why do these things have to come up when I'm skint  :p

Edit - ordered one. The cheapest they're ever been on the rainforest is £235 and they're normally around £250 so this is a billy bargain :D

It's on Honda of Bournemouth - http://www.hondaofbournemouth.co.uk/ they have 30% off site wide for the next week. They're got kreiga stuff too, US20 for £52.50, a pair of them are winking at me to complete my luggage setup :o

Motorbike accident this afternoon in Maidstone not a mile from my house, looks like the guy didn't make it :( I do sometimes wonder about the cause of these accidents, it's almost certainly going to be a smidsy, car pulling out as there's loads of little entrances on that road, but it's a 30 limit ffs - I've slid down the road while doing 15-20mph and not had a scratch, makes you wonder how much of it was down to the biker. After all, we have to take ownership for our own safety and not rely on others.

Very sad (he was a young guy, 20), but you can't think too much about these things.

I very much doubt he did either, seems a bad one as the road was still closed hours later. My heart goes to his glgamily. Not sure if its open yet either. There has been a huge rise in road traffic collisions this month around kent, four have been reported today. I saw one yeaterday and passed another today. All looked to be right of way violations/excessive speed. Makes me so nervy.

Where is it for £202? It's £260 on that website you linked.

Code: JAN30OFF - on the main page.

The rider 400 and 400 premium aren't listed now, it was last night (they might be out of stock?) but the rider 40 is and with the code that makes it £182 :)

Do it you know it makes sense. ;)
Oh it does, all I needed to complete my touring set up (apart from some camping stuff) was the rider 400 and 2x US20's to give me a US70 combo on the back of the bike. I'll probably put in another order for them this week :D

Edit - just got an email, order cancelled for the rider 400 due to being out of stock :(

Haha, yeah that's probably a good idea. I've replied asking if they know if they'll be getting them back in stock - tempted by the rider 40 but it doesn't cover all of europe like the czech republic (I can see me spending a few days in prague if I'm that way on the bike) and doesn't have lifetime speed cameras so would much rather have the 400.

Yes but not anytime soon, hopefully this time next year I'll have a Multistrada in the garage alongside my CB400 commuter. I want to do the alps/northern spain/pyrenees/italy and so-on and the CB400 isn't made for long distance stuff or 2-up touring, but it'll be fine for the trips I have planned this year (Moselle valley). Depending how that goes, maybe a trip down to the alps in late summer, taking 2-3 days to get there via the black forest in germany.

Those are nice, just been watching some videos on YouTube, are you part of a biking club or are your plans with friends?

None of mine are interested in touring, they just seem content with visiting a track a few times a year :(

No just on my own, maybe with a missus on the back if I can find one that wants to see europe by bike ;)

I wouldn't be against touring with a mate though, if you can find someone who rides the same as you (so you're not having to ride outside your comfort zone) it can be great.

For me, cheap holidays on the bike are a big attraction, that and riding some amazing roads. UK roads are OK, but nothing compared to what's out there. The trip planned to the moselle valley (1000 miles, 5 days) will cost around £200 + food costs. That's £85 in fuel, £55 for the eurotunnel and £60 for camping (probably less, campsites are around £10 a night).

Deem feels, I've no friends in the UK around my age (3/4+-) that ride... Although over where I'm from we currently have 10 people inc. me interested in a trip over to Romania, I'll have to travel from UK to Poland that's around 1500km's 1 way just to my place, than from Poland to Romania and back after t hat come back to the UK.

All of this in 2-3 weeks, lots and lots of riding.

I gave my helmet lining it's first wash since I got it in May, the water left in the bowl was brown. Nice!

Just a pain it takes so long to dry.

Looks like i'll be doing my trips solo too, i have no problem doing it but it would be nice to have company for when you stop and park up for the night.

I despise camping though and always have done, done it once when i was younger and said i'd never do it again, so if i go out on a long weekend trip it'll be hotels and nice hot showers :p

We are all your friends.. ;) :p 1500km's does seem a lot but think of the epic adventure you'd have on the way! :p

I probably won't do all camping, but once you've got the equipment it's just sooooo much cheaper. For instance, I paid £50 for a B&B (no brekky) in Barmouth, a bog standard ibis hotel in Switzerland with no breakfast is £60 for one night. A week or 2 of that soon adds up!

True, What commitments have you got? Kids etc or can you just go off as and when you please?

I'm single so will be 1 up riding all the time, though when i tend to buy expensive items, i always find myself with a new bird, i was single for 6 months and went and got myself a new system, spent £3k and the very next day i met a bird and hardly ever used the system :p :p It'll be my luck i'll meet someone who doesn't like bikes so she'll have to go swivel :D :p

No commitments at all :D I have to give 2 weeks notice at work for booking holiday but that's all that would stop me jumping on the bike and buggering off somewhere for a week :D
