What did you do to your bike today?

We are all your friends.. ;) :p 1500km's does seem a lot but think of the epic adventure you'd have on the way! :p

:D
That's only one way, both ways is 3,000km's. I don't think I would do it in one go, I would stop on the way to Poland in Holland (Amsterdam :D) and when coming back stop at my mates place in France.

So many trips planned, not sure if I'll have enough money to go on all of them haha. :p

BTW We should do a summer OcUK meet, get everyone from here to finally meet in person! :D

 Imagine on a 125 :D Take you about 6 months :p Anymore info about your tests yet?

Yeah we should set up a meet, maybe end of June-early July?

Any muffs :) You simply don't need winter gloves if you have heated grips and muffs. My hands were nearly too warm, heated grips getting a little too hot this morning and tonight on the ride to work, and it was a couple of degrees max this morning. I wear held racetex gloves, which are perforated too.

When you're right you're right. These Muffs are have kept my hands warm and don't seem to interfere with the clutch or brake all the way up to 70mph.
Feet are a bit cold though.

Fitted some adjustable levers for the bandit.

Need to bleed the brakes next, and possibly rebuild the callipers if I'm still not happy.

Yeah no problem at all. £16 from ebay!

Mainly wanted them so that I could have a bit less reach on the clutch. It's a bonus that you can choose your colour combo, so I went black and gold like the paintwork / suzuki logo combo on my bike.

Had some local scrote on his 125 cruising around the area with no plates on. Must have passed my place about 5 times in half an hour. Bike was out the front on the paddock stands as we were fitting new external lights in the garage.

Don't trust them no to try and steal the bike so parked the car in front of the garage. If they can move a 5 series BMW auto in park mode then they deserve the bike!

Also, ordered some big padlocks!

Haha :D

I'm not a huge fan of group riding - unless it's with people you know very well, you can end up riding faster than you would normally to keep up, which isn't good.

I do not play catch up to anyone I stopped that mentality over 20 years ago.

We have a pace we are all happy with and If some decides they want to blow the cobwebs out we just let them do there thing and settle back down again.

If anyone want's to ride with us and has a smaller bike or not to confidant we let them take the lead so we can keep a look out for them and if any drivers become a little unfriendly to our new buddy we move in and

take control of the situation :D

We're the same. I normally tour with two other chaps, and this year for the Alps there are six of us. We all know where we're going and where we plan to stop, so if some want to push on they're free to. That way you can still be alone with your thoughts when riding and we can have some great evenings out once we're all back together.

I certainly wouldn't rule out a longer distance tour alone - next year I'm riding alone down to Spain for F1 testing - but at the moment I really enjoy touring with mates.

No just on my own, maybe with a missus on the back if I can find one that wants to see europe by bike ;)

I wouldn't be against touring with a mate though, if you can find someone who rides the same as you (so you're not having to ride outside your comfort zone) it can be great.

For me, cheap holidays on the bike are a big attraction, that and riding some amazing roads. UK roads are OK, but nothing compared to what's out there. The trip planned to the moselle valley (1000 miles, 5 days) will cost around £200 + food costs. That's £85 in fuel, £55 for the eurotunnel and £60 for camping (probably less, campsites are around £10 a night).

I'd be happy to meet you in France or Germany for a leg of the tour.

Changed the screen as it had seen better days. Made use of vouchers I got from xmas.

That's not condensation that's clouding in the plastic.

Much better! Can't complain for £20

Cheers :D If I do an alps trip this year it'll be late summer, August or September time. The moselle valley trip I'm probably looking at June/July time but that's nowhere near you.

It looks pretty easy to do 3 days down to interlaken, 1st day down to about 30 miles east of Luxembourg city, day 2 down the B500 and stopping in the black forest for the night, and onto the alps and interlaken on day 3 :D

On a 125? That would be painful, especially since the seat felt like you were sitting on a piece of wood...

My theory is on the 02/02/2016, Mod 1 & 2 I don't know as I'll have to call the school I did CBT with. I want 2-3 days before on a bigger bike, more power, bigger weight etc. That school has brand new CB650F's

I've been forking around in my workshop today...

These are the 929 forks I'm going to fit onto the front of my '99 fireblade, along with a 17inch front wheel. They weren't in terrible condition, but the stanchions had some very light scratches (couldn't feel them with your nail) and the seals were leaking a little so I was going to fit new bushes, seals and oil as a matter of course.

However, purely by luck I was browsing eBay over the Chirstmas holdiays and found something which is increasing rare...a genuine bargain. Two brand new Honda fork lowers including new bushes, seals, O rings and caliper bolts and I won the lot for just over £50.

It would be rude not to put a decent set of springs in at the same time...

Got the forks stripped down pretty quickly:

The original bushes are in surprisingly good shape, with a new set of seals the old lowers would be quite usable.

New O-rings for the fork cap and pre-load mechanism

And a nearly finished set of forks

I say nearly, as I didn't have enough fork oil (doh) so I've left the springs out until I get some more. The lower yoke needs to be stripped and repainted, as do the clip-ons (I filed down all the ugly ridges that Honda left on when they were manufactured). also the fasteners need to be re-plated, but I know a man with a zinc plating set-up in his garage so hopefully that will be done soon.

Whilst in the mood for forks, I reassembled these to keep all the bits together. These are from a Suzuki B120 that I'm (slowly) restoring. They should have shrouds over the springs, but they are safely wrapped up in a box for now so they don't get scratched up.

This is what the poor thing looked like when I got it:

B100P_1024_zps1vurwyeh.jpg
.

I've rebuilt the engine (all new bearings and seals, re-bore and new piston required as the bore was full of water), rebuilt the wheels with new spokes and rims, sourced a new (old stock) tank as the original was like a collander, and had the frame blasted and primed. I need to paint the frame, but as it's supposed to be the same metallic blue as the tank, I'll probably ship that out to get a nice job done.

If anyone knows of a half tidy seat (or just the base) for a B100P or B120, let me know. They just don't seem to exist, so might have to modify one from an A100 to fit.

Cheers for the link Wazza, I'll drop them an email. There's not much left of the original seat base, and the only one I've seen on eBay was hardly any better.

Interlaken is a beautiful place, certainly on my list to visit!

Yeah Interlaken is a great place, go surfing in the river there :D
