What did you do to your bike today?

You mean £17 ;) £14 +VAT

It's worth finding an online parts fiche, it's basically that exploded view of every single part down to the individual nut and bolt on your bike, with part numbers. Great if you ever need a replacement bit.

£20 delivered from Fowlers as £3 delivery, think i'll go for the £7 one and see what it's like.

Spent some time swearing at the lower bearing race in the frame of my Hornet.:mad:

Not as straight forward to remove as it seems. Might need a new tool.

Started it up and let it idle and get up to operating temperature. Turned it off.

10 more days before the fractured wrist is sufficiently healed to start riding again...

Had to loosen off the chain on the YZ, suspension couldn't fully travel. Thought it was fine but i did it on the stand and it drops 4" when i get on it

Damn, he's a keeper. Dirt cheap prices, nice clean workshop AND works on the bike overnight?!! If only we all had a local indie guy that good.

Indeed, he used to own a garage in Manchester city centre but he said rates were very high, so he did up his own garage at home and works from there. He's more busy here then he was at his garage. Its taken me a week to get booked in, he's a really good guy and his workshop is immaculate.

Every Sunday he gets on his hands and knees and scrubs the whole place down, there isn't a spot of oil anywhere.

Got recommended to him by a friend who did a cbt with local motorcycle school, the mechanic sorts all their bikes for them

Where are you putting the camera

On my helmet. Il post some pics up, I have no bike at moment so can't test on a ride out but so far it looks impressive.

Pics

inb4 the camera is pointing upwards :p the Helmet when worn makes the camera perfectly level (for those who weren't aware)

I don't want to speak too soon but it looks like stripping down and reassembling my back wheel and reseating my caliper in the dark last night may have fixed my wobble, hopefully it'll be dry on the way home and I can push it a bit more just to make sure.

Them Contours are superb I used one in Spain last year, got some amazing footage. mess around with settings can't remember what mine is on think it's 720...

Got his contact details? What garage did he used to have?

I'm no longer in the City centre but if it works I'd be interested!

Also took the bike in for seals this evening, my mechanic works throughout the night, it will be ready by the morning, stunning!

Picked up the bike last night, asked him to use 15w fork oil and the difference is ace, feels less bouncy now

Also got the mechanic to fit a Fender extender whilst he has the front mudguard off

Then came home and I fitted the fuel exhaust. Went on relatively easy, instructions said to use some silicone sealant on both joints of the link pipe, . Did this and think I have a very very slight air leak still from the end can connection, ive tightened the clamp as much as it will go, I did use a smear of sealant and didn't go crazy with it

Would this cause issues? If so il take it off again and try reseal

Will post pics when I get to work

EDIT

pics:

ok, first ride in this morning and wow what a difference the new exhaust makes, my Danmoto was obscenely loud,. almost to the point where it was uncomfortable, it came with the bike with no baffle, it used to splutter, back fire, pop

It still sounds nice, without baffle @ 6500rpm its 105DB compared to the 110Db of the Danmoto

very well made and came well packaged.

It won't matter to have a slight leak,I'm surprised they suggested putting anything on it tbh, normally they are a dry fit, maybe a smear of exhaust paste if you wanted an airtight fit but no real need, looks good now

Did you use the high temp silicon stuff? I would use high temp gasket sealant instead, worked perfectly on my brother's Bonneville when we changed the exhausts.

Your rear tyre looks squared :p or is that the picture?

I'm looking forward to having front suspension that actually soaks up bumps...:D

At the moment when I ride over the bumpy strips where they've worked on the road and filled in a trench in the road, my handlebars jolt over them while the rear hardly moves. Not nice when there's a mid corner bump and the entire front end reacts to the bump :(

Seal driver and allen bolt bits ordered yesterday, I'll order the seals and paddock stand in the next couple of days, then I'll get a halfords professional set of adapters (need a 3/8 to 1/2 for my impact gun).

Oh and easy way to tell if you have an exhaust leak, fire up the engine and wearing gloves, cover the exhaust hole with your hand, you'll feel the pressure build up after a second or so if there's no holes, and it'll quieten down letting you hear if it's escaping from somewhere else.

Thanks, ive not noticed any popping or back firing etc which i had loads of with the Danmoto, seems to idle a lot nicer now too, i think the Danmoto was causing havoc!

Its all over their FAQ, they provide everything , but you just need small amount of Sealant.

i used bathroom clear silicone sealant :D, again only a smear though, if it gets bad then il use some proper stuff

hmm, not sure about the tyre, il go check it, was round last time i checked :D hope it aint, more expense!

Ahh cool will try this mate thanks.

the difference for me on the forks is day and night, not sure how long the forks have been leaking for, ive only ha the bike 2 months and was leaking when i got it (found out later!)

standard Honda weight is 10W but the guys on the Hornet forums all say use 15W so thats what i got put in.

do let us know how you get on with the forks
