What did you do to your bike today?

Yeah they act as sails and can easily make your bike fall over if the wind catches it. Mine doesn't get the luxury of a cover but it's got a 6ft fence on one side, and completely enclosed on 2 sides and the roof, with just the front open.

I need some help please with my exhausts.

Just been looking at my exhaust and don't like what i'm seeing regarding the gaskets on both pipes, what do you reckon? Now i know they are welded on so i would need to also change the secondary exhaust, unless you guys think it'll be ok?

Here is a picture of both sides.

Looking on Fowlers i would need to replace part number 9 through to 15.

New rear disc and pads plus serviced caliper on zzr also replaced front head light on vfr winter hack old one had chip at top left found a used one mint happy.

Filter & oil change on zzr also.

@clovis it looks corroded the downpipe part, but it might clean up with a stiff wire brush,it might be the silencer part aswell that slots into the downpipe that's corroded a bit you wont really know till you separate them

idk if you can get some really high temperature grease but that would stop it happening, its all the road spray being thrown up from the back wheel that's causing it

I think you'll be ok though, they are stainless steel so should be fine,it could be the gasket inside if there's one that's corroded and showing through idk

id say that white stuff is autosol where someones polished the pipes up and missed a bit

EDIT: you can fit new clamps though if you want(they will probably snap off,one did on my cat c bike),it could be carbon build up from the exhaust?

Hard to say at the moment, i'm not planning on riding my bike this week as i haven't been feeling well, tomorrow i'll take the exhausts off and get a better look at the pipes.

Cheers :)

This ^^ It's clearly something that's been applied or spilled onto the exhaust at some point.

Get a wire brush onto the slip joints and see if that really is rust or whether it's just some carbon from a leaking gasket.

My 749 kept blowing a few drops of coolant after a hard ride ( temps were showing fine ) so thought I would take a look at the water pump.

Just taken the 2 stock cans off, the metal crushable bushes between the exhausts and header pipes are stuck to the stock cans and are crumbling away, the clamps are fine to use again.

There is also parts of the bushes broken away inside the header pipe, where can i get 2 new replacements?

Number 15 on this list?

I know what you mean yeah, when i rub them they crumble, i take it they are wrapped around the pipe and sealant goes over the top to harden them?

no you just insert them into the downpipe part, then insert the silencer into the inner diameter of the seal, then tighten up the clamp, thats it

my bike was the same

EDIT: the new ones will feel firmer, its only if they get stuck or you squish them that they crumble a bit or you have to dig them out ect

Had the rear wheel off the 10 and cleaned all the winter cr@p off the swingarm. Scrubbed the chain and sprocket and new paste on there. Also bled the rear brake through a bit. Tiny res son only needed a drop to change the fluid completely!

Next weekend is the front brake service!

Cheers :) Ordered 2 new ones, will have a go at scraping out the old stuff inside the pipe.

You might be able to dig them out with a flat bladed screwdriver, put a smear of grease on them so they slide in,it will burn off later

They sell em on eBay aswell the seals
