What did you do to your bike today?

Spent most of today laying on the floor, tidying up my beater bike for some upcoming London commuting (8 weeks, every day).

- Replaced snapped clutch cable
- Threw on CNC Adjustable Levers
- Replaced leaky stock exhaust with DominatoR cheapy from Polish Ebay.
- Replaced Regulator/Rectifier & Starter Relay
- Replaced Brake Pads Front & Rear
- Flushed Brake Fluid
- Adjusted brake pedal Free Play
- Replaced Cush Drive Rubbers (total pain in t' rear)

Now I ache, time for a shower and bed I think - Loomies for breakfast to test it all out !

Can't quite fathom why you removed your underpants to take on this task :D

It's been muggy today :D

Also, the shock I've put in, I bought it as a GSXR-1000 K4 shock, but looking up GSXR shocks online, it's not the same. Can anyone identify it?

GSXR-1000 K4 shock from googling:

My shock, the reservoir is level with the top bolt and the rebound adjuster is in line with the bottom bolt holes.

Edit: After some rampant googling I believe it may actually be a GSXR-600 06-07 shock, which is -13mm height compared to stock and a little extra spring rate than the 1000 shock I thought it was.. I'll have to see what it's like when I sit on it.

New Bridgestone S21 I shall give them a good run tomorrow seeing as the weather will be in the 20's :)

AMAZING tyres. Got a set on my CBR600RR, and another set for next tyre change. When warm the lean angle and grip you can get from them is immense from road use. I had the rubber balling up on the outside of the tyre the other day, they only get better with more heat; unless doing track riding.

Good to hear :D

Unfortunately I eff'd up my insurance and it starts tomorrow not today :( so looks like I'll be doing the coolant change and oil change that I have been putting off for a rainy day. Sigh.

The bridgestones I have are terrible... a guy on R6 in the group said his were horrible too. He changed to michellins, but since I already had michellin I'll give priellis angel GT's ago. :)

rode 86 Miles for a sandwich at seaways café in fridaythrope, some fantastic roads around their. also manage to scrape my footpeg on the floor for the first time, strange I seem to get it lower down without leaning off. Was a lot of bikes out today and idiots in cars who seem to want to race, just let em passed I'm out for a nice ride.... not to race.

Why do you find that strange? The entire point of you leaning off is so that the bike stays more upright!

I just had two Michelin Pilot Power 2CT's taken off (front was rather bald and the rear very close to the legal limit) and from just the 12 miles home the new rubber of the Bridgestone's felt fantastic as Flack88 said prior.

Think I'll take the long way to & from work tomorrow :)

I also had a small OCD moment in the garage today :(

Don't you find it a bit annoying :p I'm on it sweeping through the bends carrying my speed like a good 600 rider should (:D) & I come up behind some quicker bike like a Duke/Gitzer1000/numerous other bikes & pass him giving him plenty of room & gradually pull away from him as I continue through the bends. Then we get to a straight & it's Blap straight line boy goes flying past me like I'm stood still :( Come up to the next set of bends & there he is trundling along driving Miss Daisy

What the **** am I s'posed to do I feel a **** overtaking him again but he/they're going far to slow so I just have to. It usually ends up with 1000 boy turning off. :p

I took my BMW for a spin today. Just stayed local cos my legs are ruined and I stil need to do some more modifications to be able to ride it properly.

I noticed the gear change was a little clunky and so, as I was passing a local hardware store that sold everything I would need, I decided to also take the opportunity to check out the oils etc... A basic quick check on the gear oil should show me that the oil should be roughly 110-115mm from the top and I could not fit a whole lollipop stik down it an dso I bought some 80-90 to top it up and thatss when I noticed why it felt clunky and it was lower than it should be... The friggin drain plug was missing as the stuff I was putting in, was coming out!!!

Bought a new bolt to act as a temporery for plug now and its a great fit// Handy when your local store has possibly every nut and bolt that you could poosibly wish for ( within of course, the obvious reasons )

Plopped more oil in checked the engine oil too, just in case, but thats fine, anmd off I went... Thats better, much much smoother andI hope I have not done any dammage, but it seems to be good.

I am soon to be giving her a full service anyway, btu I just dont know when I wil get the bothered... I got lots of time, just whether I get enough bothered to do it..Thats my issue.

Planned on riding it today.

8am I went out to adjust my gear shift (again ) and check my wheel alignment.

Apart from a quick trip to Halfords and an hour break for some food I've just finished messing about with it.

Rear wheel off and replaced the crap zinc plated nuts I used on the sprocket that were wasting away with some stainless steel ones.

While the wheel was out I thought I'd check my shock linkage so out came all the bolts, cleaned up the dogbones, cleaned polished and greased up the spacers and put it all back together rear end feels much freer now.

Onto the rear brake, brake line needed removing and rerouting since I fitted the braided line so that's now looking much more sensible and not resting on the swingarm. Obviously that meant refilling and bleeding the brakes using some decent Motul 600 fluid, also replaced the diaphram in the rear res as the original was shot.

Then onto the front. Removed front end plastics to give me plenty of room stripped old brake lines out, dry fitted the braided race lines and spent forever tweaking banjo angles, zip tying speedo cables out of the way and making sure the lines weren't going to be rubbing or get tangled. Then fitted it all properly filled and bled it, so much easier with the bleed nipple on the MC banjo. Got most of the air out of the calipers but there was still the odd tiny bubble coming through so switched to the banjo bleeder and got loads of the little ****ers! ten minutes bleeding that and the lever is solid.

After all that gave it a wash down to get rid of the evidence of the seagull bombing run on Friday at work and to make sure there wasn't any brake fluid sat eating any finishes.

I bet it'll ride like **** on tomorrow's commute just to pee me off :D

On the plus side there is now nothing else on my list to do to it apart from fitting new front springs and seals but that's a while off.

Got all the bits coming to rebuild my YBR caliper in the week so that's my next job.
