What did you do to your bike today?

This afternoon oil and filter change,

new air filter, red means fast right?

And new spark plugs. All fairly painless, won't get a chance to actually ride it today though. Front plug looking a big gammy.

Mine was changed like 6-7 months ago and after winter it looks like its been on the bike for 5-6 years, it was rusted and the paint was coming off. :p

Got the YZ125 back!

She's in a sorry state, they removed anything that was good and unique and replaced it with crap (bars) but she's home and she runs. Full bike wide rebuild is in order.

Result you got it back though a.

Adjusted the chain. Had to borrow a 27mm socket as I don't have one...

It's always the one socket/spanner/driver you need that you haven't got isn't it. :( For me tuther day it was the plug spanner for the Honda XR as access is restricted by the shape of the head & the gap between the head & the tank so a real specific plug spanner is needed. I have a lifetime of tools & untold different plug sockets/spanners but of course I didn't have one that would fit the Honda. In the end I managed to do it with an old Triumph tool kit I have had laying around for long enough for it to go rusty. Did the job but ****** typical.

Plugs I took out of the Fazer today were in a right state, Electrode was sound but the outside of the plug was anodized & had gone rusty here & there so a long time since they've been changed. Air filter didn't look to bad but I swapped what looked to be an after market for a gen so pleased about that as well.

Any tips on wiring the satnav up to my bike? I thought it would be the same cable that you get when wiring a battery charger up but it's just 2 wires and I'm not sure how to do it.

How many wires does the battery charger have? surely two also, one positive and one negative, should be the same I would think? wire the satnav straight to the battery, or you could get fancy and wire it into the ignition.

He means it's 2 rat tails no fittings on the bare wire.

Get a crimper and crimp some ring terminals onto the end and wire it up to your battery as usual. Cost about a tenner for a cheap one and some fittings from Amazon or find a friendly local with one.

You probably don't want to wire it up directly to the battery, unless dead batteries fill you with joy. Splice it into a switched ignition feed so there's no drain when the ignition is off.

You can just unscrew the battery terminals, place the wires, and screw it back up 'crushing' the wires (connecting them) which is the quickest/easiest way. Or, you can put some of those ring things and put them on the wires which will make it a bit neater.

Didn't see this before I posted above. You can just crimp ring terminals with pliers :p

If you want to get really fancy you could wire up a relay so everything you have connected powers off when the bike is turned off. That's how my Tomtom, heated grips and USB power are connected. Zero danger of a flat battery then.
