What did you do to your bike today?

Cheaped out fixing my puncture. It was only a tiny little air leak around a small pin that had been ground flat to the rubber so slung half a bottle of slime in the tyre job done.

Ideally I'd have gotten it plugged properly but for such a small hole and the fact I'm skint until the end of the month it seems to have done the job nicely.

Ordered a front brake master cylinder rebuild kit. Braking isnt smooth as it's gripping at the lever. Will do at the same time as changing the pistons and seals on the front.

This morning I tuned out the slight wallow on the 990 SM-T. One click less rebound and three clicks more low-speed compression damping on the shock. Sorted! Front forks are fine as they are, and the whole thing is remarkably compliant yet responsive.

Pulled a celebratory wheelie (on closed roads, officer).

I got 85miles until the light came on on the R6 last week :P

Don't you guys get 4l petrol for about $2? :p

Edit: actually, just realised that's actually pretty accurate lol. 1 gallon is around $2 in Florida at the moment, which is around 3.7l.

So what's that, something like 40p a litre there?

$2.40 for 93 (premium) :p

Yeah it's less than $10 to fill up (6quid or so), I was riding like a tool on that tank as you can probably tell

Ok stupid question time.

Before winter hits properly i was thinking of fitting a shocktube cover and a rear hugger, also figured while id have the back wheel off I'd replace the cush rubebrs as theres a touch of play, chain is nearing max adjustment too.

So while the back wheel was off figured it might be best to do the rubbers, chain an spockets and the hugger.

Ive nornally taken the bike in to have the chain an sprockets done.

I knownyou csn get special tools for breaking chainw (was thinking just do it with the angle grinder/boltcutters/drill out a rivet though) but does the new chain come as a complete loop or an unlinked chain?

Not sure id feel confident doing a master link an not ocer tughtening it.

But i fugure if im doing the sprockets and the wheels off i should just be able to slip iver a chain thats alreadg w full loop.

Ia this a thing or am i an idiot?

You can use an grinder for sure just grind the heads off and tap out the pins, when you buy a new chain you will have a soft link all you have to do is bur the ends over NOT to tight or you will create a tight spot not a hard job just be careful the joy of a dedicated tool is it is much easier to bur the pins not to tight.

Remember to join the old chain to the new so you can feed on to the front sprocket unless your replacing sprockets also which is advised.

Also no such thing as a stupid question.

Crashed the SV650.

Front wheel came away going round a wet roundabout yesterday. My fault, but someone stopped in the roundabout as someone was cutting them up. I didn't anticipate it so I had to brake. Grabbed a bit too much front and down I went.

First ever crash. Damage was broken indicator, broken rear brake lever, scraped exhaust mount, scraped crash bobbin, and a rather bruised hip!

It restarted fine and I rode straight off.

I did my Hornet's chain with this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motrax-Mo...961315?hash=item2a705fed63:g:uH0AAOSwZ8ZW5IoL

Wasn't too difficult, just took time and a lot of force, but went quite well in the end. It's exactly the same as doing a bicycle chain.

A dedicated tool does make the job a little easier but I would go for one more versatile than mentioned above spend a little more which will do cam chains also for when you want to do some basic internal mechanics.

My Alpinestars trousers only came with soft foam hip protectors.

I've now ordered some D3O hip armour, as it hurts :D.

Just replaced the rear brake lever and indicator. I've got crash bobbins installed, but there are still some minor scuffs to the fairing, which is disappointing, but it already had some scuffs when I bought it, so it doesn't matter too much I guess.
