What did you do to your bike today?

I'm finding the bike a bit harsh on the back end on bumpy roads after lowering the ride height a bit, what should I adjust?

Less compression damping? I've been playing with mine (suspension!) and have softened it off a load from standard, feels much better.

Edit: Also managed to get 139 miles on a tank, squeezed 17 litres in (really was about 16.8), the fuel light came on at 104 miles, so that was 35 miles on reserve and (maybe) a litre left?

Thats gooood. I get about 115 from 15 litres on the CBR. Buts thats heavy city riding

Raise the ride height again, it always ruins handling.

I had to lower it a little since getting the new tyre from 185/55 to 190/55, when stopped it was quite a load on my little legs and I was getting a lot of strain.

Something actually felt a little off after the new tyre until I lowered it which feels normal now but the back end seems to go up and down with the road rather than taking the bumps.

You need to play with your suspension it'll probably be set far too hard now you've taken the play out by lowering it.

Don't forget she is 20 years old mate ;)

Carbs and a steel frame don't really help. She does need the carbs balancing though

My CB400 is 15 years old, 40k + on the clock ;) mind you, being light and a 400cc, and being able to pootle through towns at 30mph in 6th gear do help the fuel economy somewhat! :D

 How can you only be getting 35mpg from a 600 Honda? Are they that bad for fuel around town?

That makes getting 35-40mpg from the Tuono seem pretty good now!

Most engines are shocking with short journeys. Mine used to be 110 from 15litres when I was just going 2.5miles each way to work. Now I get 145miles doing longer 20miles each way.

Having to fill up every 3.5 trips is annoying as hell mind :p

Nah, I tell you what's annoying, doing a 35 mile round trip commute, getting a full week (5 days) out of a tank, but not quite being able to get a 6th day :p I like to fill up at the BP 500m from my house, the 3 petrol stations on my route are all more expensive, but that 6th day would take it to 210 miles, on a 18 litre tank, which at 55mpg is dead on running dry. I have gotten 18 litres in before, I seem to remember that was when the bike was probably 200m away from dying from no fuel!

Edit: Ahh, 3 miles - that explains the shocking economy!! It's probably barely warmed up!!

I really wish they had a fuel gauge, I always forget to fill up before a fun ride and end up hitting the fuel light, usually get about 100 miles between light illuminations and 15 litres goes in ... which makes about 30mpg :o

I tend to go on the trip anyway, I always reset it when filling up. 320km on my CB400, and now I know that the fuel light at 105 miles means 140 miles total on the Tuono. 4 litre reserve so around 35 miles on reserve.

I'd rather have a gear indicator on the Tuono, it's easy to knock it down into 1st when I'm still doing 30mph
