What did you do to your bike today?

heatgun is too hot it would melt it

you only need a hair dryer if you get creases or bubbles in it,it takes them out if you warm it up

Still got issues with the brakes after sticking new pads and discs on it, get a lot of vibration when braking from over 90mph. My 2 main theories at the moment are the caliper needs a strip and clean, I propped it on the stand and span the front wheel and it's still the right side that's sticking at a certain point. That or the steering head bearing or wheel balance.

Got the bike booked in for a service next week as I'd like to keep the full service history going, will ask them to take a look then and give me an opinion. Bit worrying when your brakes aren't working correctly!

warped discs? if its vibrating?

ohh sorry new discs, checked steering head bearings? they will move under braking, check wheel aligment/runout and tyre balance aswell

I really like that (even with the red tank), they are not Chinese fairings are they though? i've heard some horror stories about those!

Sorry to hear abut your off though matey.

Local dealer has a gsxr1000 done with a faring kit from china he said fitting was a pain I think the finish and look is crap and feels cheap and nasty.

He has done several and all the same ******* awful.

big factor seems to eb if you get chep compressio nmould or the mroe expensive injection mould

Put on a radiator cover. Was a simple enough job but made somewhat difficult because of my bloody big hands and trying to undo the bolts holding the fan onto the rear of the radiator. The bolt heads were on the backside of the radiator and I had problems getting a spanner to them as the downpipes are in the way. I also had to remove the horn from it's mounting as that got in the way as well.

The good thing now though is the cover kit requires the captive nuts to be removed from the radiator mount and put onto the fan mount so the new bolts get screwed in from the front. SEE THAT KAWASAKI? Not all of us have small hands ffs :)

Otherwise a very simple job.

Gave it a good clean and wax. Fitted new LED indicators and relay and sprayed the rear sets black.
Just got to wait for it to stop raining now :(

The black rear sets look much better, don't like the aluminium finish when the rest of the frame is black. How did you go about spraying them? would like to do it myself but I don't want it to look cheap tacky

their just the original aluminium silver rear sets with anodised gold foot rests.

I sprayed them at work with 2k paint and lacquer so they should be pretty durable.
I just made a frame up with a load of hooks to hold them in place.

You could easily get a decent finish at home. I don't recommend k2 products to jo public due to the health issues.

If you want to give it a try at home I'd recommend a good etching primer followed by a high temp engine paint or alloy wheel paint finished off with at least 3 good coats of alloy wheel lacquer.
That would probably be the most durable finish from spray cans. Ensure good preparation before spraying a between coats.

Oh and @Tefal I've tried wrapping a tank before, its a total nightmare! and near impossible to get a 100% clean finish. Your'll get bubbles and creases at the seams and any tight curves.

Spray the tank or get a baglux.

Cracked out the toolkit to do the alternator work, fuel tank off, coolant out, oil out, bolts undone... except one - my alternator cover has an inspection cover (a cover on a cover!) and the bolt head stripped. Tried hammering in a bigger allen head, but its not having it.

So that put an end to todays mechanical shenanigans. Ordered myself an impact driver and screw extractor so one way or another, that bolt is coming out.

Anyone know a good guide for identifying screw/bolt sizes by thread type and size - it be nice to know my M5's from my M6's and therefore be able to buy replacements without going 'like dis one'.

personally I don't find road riding a sports bike in the rain that enjoyable any more.
I've done it plenty in the past but seeing as this bike is a toy I'll save it for the dry days.

Give me a crosser and a green lane and i'll go out in any weather you like :)

Well didn't do anything to the bike but actually got somewhere with the insurance claim after being knocked off 2 weeks ago. Now I am awaiting a call from the engineer to inspect the bike but ranted on at them about my tour in June, weekend away end of May and the fact that they are delaying me in my progress with the IAM, they soon jumped and got the ball rolling so I am going to continue to deal with the 3rd party myself.

Got a Simmi Performance Tri=oval carbon end can sitting here waiting to go on the bike too!
