What did you do to your bike today?

I have fitted another pair of bars, 3rd set in 3 months.
pair the bike came with didn't like and the 2nd set just didn't feel right also, so got some wider streetfighter type and they feel great

Got back from Cadwell on it... fantastic time! Bloody hard track though to get right (first time out there).

Cadwell is awesome, perfect for bikes would love to do some carting around there as well. If you could hire them out :(

Took a rather pesky old alarm of the zx6 which caused me the embarrassment of having the largest AA recover truck in the fleet come take me home from work. Internal battery on the alarm had decided to die and you cant change it out unless you fancy spending 5 hrs drilling it out with dremal.

Got the bike ready for a 2000 mile tour down to Lake Como which I'm doing with my daughter on friday :)

Cant wait - love that feeling of setting off on a long tour, and will be nice to have a pillion taking photos from the back of the bike along what should be some stunning scenery

Few from Donnington last monday. Was taking it fairly easy as I still haven't got a trailer so I need to be able to ride it home. Plus only on road tyres. Fun day though. Really got lucky with the weather and it was awesome to be on track with Neil Hodgeson.

Chrono day concept was interesting. I booked me and a mate in to group 1 as he had never done Donnington before, and we planned on just taking it easy. We really should have gone up a group or 2 though as they were so slow it was bordering on dangerous in places. They fit a transponder to your bike, then based on the times of your 2 morning sessions they re shuffle you at lunch. First session was just spent re learning the track, I hadnt been round it for nearly 10 years, plus I wanted to scrub in my new tyres. The second session was OK, but slow traffic just ruined pretty much every lap. Managed to get 1 OK lap in.

Got moved up after lunch but they were still to slow. I managed to lap pretty much everyone in the group in a 20 min session. Next time im defo going to book myself into the right group as its so much more fun going round with people of a similar pace.

On the last session I swapped bikes with my mate. He has a GXR1000 K7. Damn is that thing thing quick. Where before the newer bikes then mine were slightly pulling away from me on the straights, I was able to just monster past them. The brakes are no where near as good as mine, and the suspension is stock so needs sorting, but that engine is a peach. Made me seriously consider its time for a new bike!. Mine handles and stops well but its down around 30-40 bhp on the newest litre bikes.

All in all I think we had 5 sessions. No incidents involving us. Plenty of people were throwing there bikes into the scenery for no apparent reason. In 1 session there were 5 people that came off. 3 on the 1st warmup lap!. Quite how they managed that is beyond me.

Dropped it of at Bristol Kawasaki for a valve clearance check and carb balance. Borrowed a demo ER6F for the day. Lovely bike :)

All valves in spec at 22k and carbs slightly out so have been balanced properly. Saves me a weekend of work so i can concentrate on the last part of the bike overhaul by rebuilding the calipers. Will probably do an oil change at the same time. Only done 1k since the last oil change but was running on 2 year old oil before that so will use this as a flush out.

cost me £200 for the valves and carb balance. Well worth it to me, i cant be bothered with something that technical and the guys at Bristol Kawasaki know our family so we trust them. Bought most of our bikes from them for the last 15 years.

Price for the carbs alone was about £50 so looking at £150 ish for the valves plus shims if needed.

you have to take out the camshafts on mine to replace any shims:eek:

it all comes down to howmuch stuff they have to take off to get to the valves ect

that's where boxer engines save you money esp with valve check

I sure Sagalout is aware of this due to his bike history he's just having a giggle.
