What did you do to your bike today?

I've just sent off my bike seat to get lowered, i'm 5'8" and on the balls of my feet when stopped at lights etc, would like more of my foot on the floor really for stability. Never had a seat lowered before so i'm interested as to what the result may be.

@Scort are you any further on with modding the seat?
Forgot to update - I did a proper ghetto job in the end, as I missed how sculpted the OEM seat was, vs the knock off I got from eBay, and wanted to get it back on asap.

Still only done short rides, so the concert verdict is still out - but after the bike was sat in the sun for hours in the works car park, I can confirm something - my god does the gel retain heat! Felt like my balls were being slowly roasted on the ride home!

I should have probably covered the foam/gel with a thin layer of foam before I put the cover back on, but after buying a couple of types of foam online, I wasn't happy with either - so just put the cover back on. So whether a 'buffer' layer would reduce heat soak, idk, but I'm in half a mind to maybe get it professionally done if it doesn't improve comfort on rides.

One thing I might try on the next long ride, is to not wear cycling shorts under my jeans - just in case they're contributing to comfort issues.

Got back yesterday from a 4,300 mile trip through Europe and The Balkans, getting as far as Greece before hopping over to Italy and rushing home to an ill cat.

Got my seat back from being lowered, still can't manage to flat foot it but i'm able to put more of my feet on the ground so i feel more stable when stopped etc.

Well the old girl was giving me some problems, not revving past 7k, sometimes just cutting out and then starting again a few mins later etc etc, so me and my old man spent several hours on her today. Thought it may be float levels on the carbs, so dug those out, striped and cleaned them, so obvious signs of troubles, so put it all back together, still running like poo. Got the aux fuel tank hooked up, ran like a dream, so narrowed the issue down to the fuel supply from the tank/ petcock. Took it out, and the filters were pretty gunked up, combined with a vacuum hose leak that opens/actuates the fuel line, meant that fuel was just trickling out. New vacuum line, striped and cleaned the petcock, put it all back together and she's running like a dream again! Happy days :)

Did my first puncture repair (rear tyre thankfully). Nasty shard of metal sticking out. First attempt failed second seems to have held.... Realise you need a good amount of pressure in the tyre to begin with before you start shoving the hairy catapillar thing in... Life lessons eh!

If its one like this they're brilliant, ive used mine twice, takes about 10 minutes and you're done, just ride to the nearest garage and top up with more air and you're good to go. I have added extra canisters to mine just in case as 3 is a bit low.

Yup just like that! Need a little keyring style pressure gauge next as I was a bit paranoid on my ride last night that my repair was about to fail (given the first one did!)

I think most people are scared to use the bore tool too much, you need to get right in there and bore out a nice big hole so you can get the worm nicely in there. Awaits the "thats what she said comments"

That sounds class (not the rushing home to sick pet bit). Id love to do something like that... probably gonna have to wait until the girls are a lot older and self sufficient before i contemplate something like that.

Had a nice new pair of Bridgestone BT46 rubbers fitted front and rear. The old front tyre still had tread, but was quite old, the rear was just worn out. It's amazing how much more grip fresh rubber gives you, especially on the front. I think the old rubber was as hard as a whore's heart! It's also cleared up some bar wobble I was getting, so happy days!!
