What did you do to your bike today?

Was planning a ride put this evening, so nipped to the garage to top up the air in my slow punctured rear... decided to check the coolant, as the fans have kicked in a few times recently (just chalked it up to the weather), and the expansion tank is dry as a bone

Nothing leaked out, so either these 890s love burning off coolant, or maybe the garage didn't top it up fully.

Crush washer and a bottle of coolant ordered, as I had neither on hand, so might as well do a full flush tomorrow - probably find it's got water in it or something daft.

I’d go for the later, no way should it go through a tank of coolant.
Well, the bleed screw has never been off the bike, so it looks like they maybe just topped it off (at best).

Just did a full flush and clean, ran it through with 5 lots of distilled water, then put new coolant in - will take it for a local shakedown tomorrow, ensuring it's all good. But no leaks in the garage, so hopefully it's all good

It seems OK to me, but no harm taking another look
Some times if the valve is not replaced when the tyre was replaced and it should be, it will perish & if you push on the side of the stem of the valve you will here a hiss.

What did I do today? Had a heart attack, followed by a stroke laughing at what I had read...

Priced up a set of Pirelli Rosso 4s, a little over 300 quid with a local (mobile) tyre fitter - expected to have to pay a bit of a premium for the convenience of having a mobile fitter - they came back with over 430 quid lol

I politely declined, stating the above premium expectation (but not to their level) only to be told it would be about an hours round trip for them.... So assuming the 30 quid is for the sundries of fitment etc (like most places), they're really expecting to charge labour at about 100 quid an hour! Jog on.

After declining again and saying I would look around, I got quite a passive aggressive text back along the lines of "well, you'll be waiting a long time for a garage to do them".

Though I've got a garage just 2 minutes ride from me, they didn't fill me with confidence when I took the rear there for the slow puncture, granted they did seem rushed off their feet - I'm just not sure about handing my wheels over to have some new hoops; not knowing when I'll be getting them back.

Found somewhere in Shaftesbury, looks OK, just need to get a price - then pop the wheels out and drive them up there.

Had the first service done, and I don't know if theres some sort of "running in" map installed when the bike is new and they've now removed it, but my good god does it feel different now engine wise.

Also, these look way way way better in the flesh..

I was almost tempted to get a p/x price for mine, but I should probably keep it a bit longer than 4 months.

I quite like the look of these, the style is probably a tad before my time, but they do look very striking with the full fairing set. Watched Chopsie and TMF videos on them, and they seem to get pretty good feedback.

If my 890 decides to blow up, I might give the CP3 engine a go - the new MT09 looks pretty cool, now it doesn't have that odd bench style seat; don't think that ever suited it

I think there is different running in oil so that might be part of the different feel?

I love those GP's.

After recently finding the coolant was nil, and flushing/cleaning/changing it, I decided to do the oil and filters - never know if the garage did them or not! KTM OEM filters and Motul 7100 now installed.

Rear wheel is back off, and I'm waiting on a new M9RR in the post, as the leaky tyre is almost like a slick in the middle now, and chewing up quite a bit, so time to bang a fresh one on.

Fitted new o2 sensor which has resulted in the engine management light coming back on smh…though I realise post quick check ride it’s loose so need to tighten it more.

Pillion grab handles installed fine at least (added only for good anchors for luggage in the future)
