What did you do to your bike today?

Started cleaning the bike up today so it be ready for my 2 weeks off work starting this week :):):)

Not something i did today... but yesterday.

Packed the bike off to its new home up in Norfolk :(

Thankfully the wife was there to receive it. Had to ask the delivery guy to wheel it into the garage for her as she's too weak/small to move it herself

Tuesday I replaced the broken shock mount. No dramas - was quicker getting the shock out and back in than it was getting the tower setup to dangle the bike from lol! Tried standard ride height, made the bike feel too vague, so raised the back end up an inch again - much better. Had a new Michelin Pilot Power 2CT fitted to the rear, then went and bought a new pair of bike jeans. Happy days!

Crashed it

Had the most violent tank slapper that caused me to be ejected into the air, landing on my right, and snapping my collar bone.

No idea what the bike is like, some legends stopped to help, and a local kindly took the bike in - ambulance was going to take hours, so another legend took me to Dorchester. 6 or so hours later, I'm now laying in bed with my sling, and clicking bones (grim!)

No idea what happened - think I just hit a crest, but I've done the road several times before, a 30 into NSL, and accelerated harder than this time... Guess tonight was the night! I even said to the Wife when I left at 17:00 "I bet I crash tonight".... lottery ticket next lol

Need to go see the bike today, so I can sort recovery etc - I'm sure the people won't mind me arranging for it to be collected from there.... I hope. Or I might have to get it recovered home, and then get the insurance to sort it etc

Sorry to hear mate, hope you recover soon and jump back in the saddle.
At least your TMNT socks were safe this time :D
Ha, sadly I lost one of those due to being cut off, and the other pair are threadbare these days :(

I think it's the curse of Motul tbh - when I did the oil and filters on the S1000R, it was less than 100 miles after that, I binned it and watched the liquid gold go down the drain (literally). Motul went into the Duke about 600 miles ago.... so maybe I need to stay away from the stuff lol

Awwww man, been there done that, got the picture.

If you have bits floating, push them for surgery. I wish I had- a couple of months after I did mine (and other stuff) I had a medical appointment and the consultant couldn't believe they'd left it to heal itself. 20 odd years later I've still got bits pointing out where they shouldn't, and it often aches like a mother.

Sounds terrible! My left one was fractured in 2008 and aches when the weather changes - goodness knows what this one will be like

Went to see the bike, so I could make recovery plans etc, took a bunch of photos from what I saw:

All crash bungs on the left are worn down, the swing arm bobbin was ripped out, taking a bit of swing arm with it, the swing arm is also marked up, as is the rear subframe on both sides. The rear of the bike looks like it hit the embankment before sliding up the road, as the tail tidy is broken and part of the seat cowl snapped off. Plastic tank surround has been ground down to molten plastic.

The foot rest and gear lever are gone, left engine casing scuffed and leaking oil - though not as severe as it looked on the road - granted I was sat about 100 yards from it, but I think the 'puddle' I saw, was just a drain cover. The handlebars are bent, the left mirror has gone and the mounting arm ground down. The clutch lever is intact but ground down on the end. The lower part of the rad and protector on the left, is also scuffed down to bare metal.

Sadly Hastings route you down 4th Dimension - so hopefully they will be decent this time, I am hoping to get to the bike before recovery though, as in the event it's a write off, I'd like to keep the slip on and Powerparts seat.

What is odd, and I think this is linked to the CoPart flog offs, is that they told me I will need to send the log book and keys to them.... to me that's alarm bells going off, so I might take to Google to see what people's experience is.

As for me, the aches have very much kicked in today, all limbs are stiff and sore - but it's all manageable pain, as is the broken bone - though I quite like the idea of that being plated back together to expedite healing.

The biggest kick in the balls - the weather is chuffing glorious :(
