What do you think of the 4070Ti?

At 4k without DLSS frame generation I believe it's slower than a 3090 Ti at pretty much everything. 1440p brings things a bit closer.

yeah man i can see that chasm in performance
Not saying it's not fast - 3090 Ti performance is bloody good - the 4070 Ti is penalized by its memory bandwidth at 4k though, which is why the performance starts to drop off. Nvidia's marketing for the 40-series is shameful and misleading though.

The 3090s were always viewed as stupid cards in comparison to the 3080 in price to performance wise, the 4070 ti/4060 coming close or on par is no big feat after 2 years.

Still crazy happy with my 2070 GTX (I paid 200 to a buddy that could have got vastly more for it).

My daughter is using my old 2060 GTX OC. (Again, and absolute bargain that I think was mispriced on Amazon).

Neither of us need to upgrade to a 3 or 4 series at all. Everything plays great. I am running at 1440p as well. Nvidia can keep their overpriced attempts.

Had they been sensibly priced, I would consider it "just because".

It's now after 11AM here in Florida, and I can add multiple different 4070Ti's to cart from two different retailers, with the cheapest being $840.

The idea that manufacturers can charge whatever they want and they will sell everything they make doesn't seem to be holding up.

They can try to manipulate supply to produce scarcity (and maybe an illusion of demand), but they will eventually need to sell units.

It's gonna be a waiting game, prices will have to come down. When all new gen cards are out and dust settles will be time to buy, I will wait till Summer time. Prices should drop and there will be more choice in second hand market if choose not to go with current gen.

Given the amount of silicon your getting makes it comparable to the 3060 it makes it about £500 to much IMO.

Both Nvidia and AMD can do one has far as I'm concerned, if I need to buy a new GPU tomorrow I'll buy an Intel GPU and put up with all the buggy software and drivers.

Im pretty sure people aren't buying these out of any enthusiasm for the product whatsoever but rather out of sheer frustration and the total lack of any alternative or things getting any better on a price/performance for this generation.

I mean, If the 4070 is this bad, just how gimped and overpriced are the (supposedly) mainstream 4060s going to be at £500.

This only makes me more tempted by the 7900XT - and as someone who pretty much only buys the 70 series (770, 1070, 3070) it's absolutely mad seeing these prices.

I remember being a bit annoyed that the 3070 was 469 instead of 429! Perhaps this one, like the 20 series, is just a generation worth skipping entirely.

Says it all when there is no FE version of the 4070Ti. Nvidia know how bad it is and not even attempting to sell their version of it

That idea was never true. It's always about supply and demand, it's just that simple.

Everyone moaning about 4xxx cards yet plenty of people buying them means stupid high prices are here to stay . Next gen a 5060 will probably be close to £1k

Mind showing Nvidia's and AMDs sales this quarter since you seem to have inside knowledge. As you get them I'll leave this here.
