Son Of Rambow.
Clearly not a bad film, but the fact that I grew up in that era meant that I was constantly having my disbelief unsuspended by mannerisms, attitudes and scenes that I couldn't align with my own memories.
It didn't help that the part of schoolboy Lee Carter seemed to have been written for a thirty year old man from the 2000s, something only compounded by the 'Drama School Southern Scallywag With Clarity Of Diction' delivery.
Eric Sykes' cameo was a welcome surprise
I think the next time I want to wallow in my 80s childhood, I'll watch
This Is England again instead.
If you didn't live through the 80s however, you'll probably be more open to the heartwarming charm of this film
