What film did you watch last night?

Babadook. Awesome movie, although the final act is the weakest part of the film.

9/10

Great film huh. I enjoyed it, definitely buying when it's out on Bluray.

The ending i'm not to sure about at the moment. It's kinda lame in terms of horror film endings, but it's not a traditional horror film as such:

Given the fact that the Babadook is basically all about her and her son fighting the loss of her husband and the kids father. The story is all about her trying to get over the grief and that's what the Babadook represents, him and their grief. But he'll always be there, she stored all of his stuff in that basement.

Very well put together i thought, with bits like the basement door rattling and the dog at one point was scratching at the door. It all goes to pot once she goes down there, and also finishes up down there.

It makes sense and i like the story, so i'm ok with the ending.

Step Up: All in

Was ok, acting was awful but that was to be expected. Had some good scenes but nothing special. 5/10

Step Up: Revolution is still the best one out of the series. Infact I would give it a 9/10 for just how stunning the film is.

Sunshine

8/10

I've had the DVD for a while but only just got round to watching it yesterday,

The story was a bit slow at times and there were a couple of 'wait, what just happened?' moments (which the extras/commentary explained), but I enjoyed it overall, I thought the sets and effects were great.

I would have probably enjoyed it more if I didn't have 'Event Horizon' in the back of my mind all through it, but in the end it reminded me more of 'Moon' in feeling.

This is my favourite film of all time.
The shots of the sun are amazing, when they have just black space and then cut to the sun it's such a simple but effective technique

TMNT - 7/10
Rather better than I expected in a turn your brain off popcorn action movie way. Less Michael Bayification than Transformers. Didn't twig it was Megan Fox until after the movie, she was less annoying than usual.

Now to find the 90s original. :D

Case 39.

Pretty good; a little unnerving in places. I thought part of the last twenty or so minutes got a little silly, but overall a very decent flick, 7.5 / 10.

Ian McShane puts in a convincing performance.

Devil's Advocate: Keanu's a bit wooden as always but luckily Al Pacino saves the day. 7/10

If they had not done the last 5 mins or so it would have been a better film. And a tree in the leading role of any film Keanu Reeves film would be less wooden.

Filth 7/10. If there was ever a cautionary tale about the evils of drink, drugs and being Scottish, this is it ;)

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. Netflix thought I would like this after I watched something or other. It was wrong. This film is rubbish. The soundtrack is pretty good, but that's it.

Police story now.

a decent jackie chan film, but felt like an attempt to play out an Asian rush hour vs saw.

I preferred police story 3 even though it's older and doesn't look as sharp or as polished, yet it somehow has more charm and better real stunts than Now.

6.5/10

Police story 2 is my favourite, the fight scene in the childs play area is awesome

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - (6/10)

Enjoyed this has I had no expectations. Very good GCI and action, acting was OK and nothing that really annoyed me.
