What film did you watch last night?

Dead Man Down - 7/10

Good film to pass some time. Thought Colin Farrell and Noomi Rapace were great. Cracking song at the end too.

Predestination (2014)
10/10

This is more than a Time Cop sc-fi film as there was little emphasis on time travel. I'd probably class this as a mystery which is delivers on so many levels (performance, plot, cinematics etc)

This is a film I need to watch probably a couple of times just to understand the mind **** plot twist towards the end. I was thoroughly captivated throughout.

Honestly read the IMDB reviews as those users can put their review of the film in a more eloquent way.

Got to agree, best film i've seen for a while. It's not one you can walk away from then come back 5 mins later. don't get put off by the first 20-30min, yes its mostly talking but stick with it, its worth it.

On the flip side everything goes slow-paced and reveals bit by bit, but last 30 minutes are like...too much things going on in a single sequence it gets so complicated and confusing. An extra 20 mins added to the film would have helped imo.

Seth Rogan is truly a terrible actor.
It's almost as if he is trying to be a bad actor.
I'd like to see him in something serious and see if he can act or not.
The only time I have seen Rogan outdone, in the bad acting stakes is the lady who plays his wife in Neighbors - Rose Byrne. That actress was truly terrible and deserves to pelted with rotten tomatoes. Without doubt, the worst actress I have ever seen. I've seen kids of 5 yrs old deliver more believable performances.

Trancers.

I saw this film way back in the 80s when it came out on video and remembered it fondly as a bit of a Terminator clone. Almost 30 years later I am thinking it's better to stick with fond memories.

5/10 though still better than most films made by Sci Fi (can't bring myself to type it the way they have their name now).

Truly bad. I just cringed at every line. ..

"What If?" Romantic comedy/drama. I really enjoyed this sweet little film. If you'd told me Daniel Radcliffe was the main lead, I wouldn't have believed he could pull it off. Some very nice moments, and they manage to subvert some of the genres cliches.

"Words & Pictures" same as above, but more grown up, with more broken main characters. Clive Owen and Juliet Binoche, so that's loads of acting chops there. They make you really care about the characters.

The Imatation Game 9/10

Cracking.

Best film I've seen this year. Possibly an Oscar nod to Cumberbatch I suspect off the back of it.

I wouldn't be surprised if he got at least a nomination for this role even if his performance was bad. I've not seen the film yet so fair play if it's really a deserved perforance but the Oscar committee have a habit of getting caught up in sensationalism, and there's been a lot surrounding Turing's treatment in the news this past year. Was it his anniversary or something?

Yet you gave it 10/10? Sort your scale out! :p

Mockingjay pt 1 7/10

I went in with low expectation having already read the book which felt like the rushed cash in of the trilogy, I was pleasantly surprised, it's probably a better film than the first two instalments. But despite the higher stakes and ramping up of the tension to 11 I just didn't engage with it. It also suffers from the calm before the main event in a similar way to the final two Harry Potter films. Still worth a watch.

60 years since his death, yes.

The committee will overlook it because Turing is English.
