What film did you watch last night?

Gone Girl: 9. An absolute masterpiece of twists and turns.

American Sniper: 8. Epic film which does a decent job of capturing the things soldiers go through on the battlefield and the decisions they have to make. Only let down by a murky background.

The Imitation Game: 10. Cumberbatch delivers an excellent performance in this excellently directed film. An absolute must see, this is hands down one of my favourite films ever.

A few I've watched lately

Fury - 8/10 - Never been a fan of Pitt's acting, but genuinely enjoyed this film.

The interview - 4/10 - Utter ****, I can only think Sony used the "hacking" as a ploy to give this movie some attention as they knew nobody would go see it otherwise

The equalizer - 9/10 - Genuinely love films like this one, Denzel was brilliant in it, and a great storyline too

Guardians of the galaxy - 7.5/10 - Really enjoyed this one, wasn't one of Marvel's all time greats, but extremely funny and very enjoyable too.

The guest - 6/10 - Watchable film if you've got nothing else to do, but the acting wasn't the great, storyline was half decent though.

Space Pirate Captain Harlock (3D anime sc-fi) 9/10.
Probably the best CGI film I've seen. Good story and spot on animation and the 1hr45min time goes quickly.

A few nights ago...

Taken 3...showing his age now, quick edits to hide how slow he runs, how stilted his fights are and the fact there is no blood throughout really bugged me. Someone gets gutshot and there is just a black mark and no blood flowing, I know it's a 12A but come on. Still better than 2 which I consider one of the worst sequels i've seen...about a 6/10

Last night...

Woman In Black 2...did not rate the first highly, was very generic and predictable. This is a little more of the same but the story is better, the scares much improved and the lead far more likable...about a 7/10

Captian Phillips - Amazing film!... two hours and eight minutes and come the end I felt like I hadn't moved or taken a breath, it was that gripping. I had heard all the great things about it, but didn't think I would like it, but how wrong I was. 9.5/10

Fun fact, the nurse at the end is a real nurse, that's why it's so cold, clinical and "non-acted" if that makes sense. Add's to the actual realism of the movie.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - 6/10

Quite enjoyed this. The apes were really well done, but sadly far more believable than the cardboard cutout humans.

Yes, we watched the extras straight after, that went in to that. I think the performances overall were great, esp. Hanks, whom I do admire anyway. The fact it was based on a real event made it all the more powerful as a film...

John Wick - 8/10

Solid action film, does go a but far at times, but really enjoyed it. Was expecting it to be trash, so pleasantly surprised.

Pretty much this.
It's a straight forward action revenge flick as the trailer shows. It is what it says on the tin.
Great action/choreography that manages to be somewhat believable, though it obviously stretches that slightly in some places. Hey, it's a movie. Deal with it.

I'd have to give it 8/10 for it's genre and that dog is so damn cute.

Surely you haven't just worked this out? Most of Seth Rogen's films tank because of this.
