What film did you watch last night?

The Martian 9/10. What a breath of fresh air. Would be a 10/10 if it had more characterisation. First film in a long time which has made me pick up the book.

Worlds End.. finally got round to seeing the final film in the Cornetto trilogy. Not as good as Shaun, but better than Fuzz... 7/10

10/10 for me, in fact I've seem it twice at the cinema now.
And the 3d for most of the film was top notch and add to it. Finally a director who understands, 3d should go into the screen, not out at the audience.

The Martian - 10/10

Watched it in 2D as in generally not a a fan of 3D and loved every minute of it. Great story, well paced, seemingly realistic/accurate and not over the top. Some the backdrops of the Martian landscape were stunning. Matt Damon pull the character off perfectly imo with some great humour at times. Heading yo Manchester at the weekend so might watch it again in 3D IMAX. A must watch.

Some low budget UK sci-fi film the wife recorded from Ch4. "Under the skin", I believe.

Utter pants. An hour of some bird driving around Jockland in a van picking up blokes with 40 minutes of other stuff which made no sense.

Adapted from a book, apparently. I'm guessing it wasn't a best seller.

John Wick - 7/10

Good for what it is. The story sucks, but as a pure action packed violence film it does alright.

Based on reviews it seems like I'm going to have to go and watch The Martian!

The Martian.

Brilliant movie! Matt Damon was just superb. Great cast all round. And Mars has never looked better!

Solid 9/10 from me.

Ha, this has to be the most overrated film of last year (if it was last year, who cares). Utterly boring, confusing and pointless. That flippin' film made my girlfriend lose complete trust in me picking decent films to watch and the common phrase by me 'Oh it's meant to be good' is now laughed at and swiftly followed by 'what, like Under the Skin' or 'what, like American Hustle'

Edit: Looks like I should see the Martian too! Loved the book.

The Martian - 9/10. excellent movie. Like many others really enjoyed it. Probably one the best movies Matt Damion and Ridley Scott has made.

Anyone notice some of the costumes looked familiar? Prometheus designs

Macbeth (2015 one)

Intense performances all around. Paddy Considine is brilliant as Banquo, and Fassbender may be my favourite actor of this generation. He's utterly mesmerising.

The only thing I didn't really like was the kid actor who plays Banquo's son. He just looked like he didn't have a clue what anyone was saying in every scene he was in, which he probably didn't really.

Can't say I did, unless you mean large open face helmets with silly internal lights, but that's design from a filming standpoint, otherwise we would never see the actors faces,

Just a little trivia from imdb-

"Much of the research and development on Prometheus (2012) was used on The Martian (2015). Especially the space suits."

Ex Machina

The actors made the film, along with their script. It was intriguing to listen to the conversations between Ava and Caleb getting to know one another, it was simplistic but charming. Then there was the relationship between Caleb and Nathan which was tense. It was quite psychologically thrilling, even more the fact that the whole thing felt realistic and could be quite imaginable in future. It was a rather creepy movie and the ending was a little shocking/depressing. I found it thought provoking and would watch it again.

7.5/10

The Martian 10/10
Absolutely superb.

The very very last scene with the view of the Earth looked familiar, in the sense I thought it might have been similar to the opening scene from Alien, but apparently not but it seemed to have some connection to one of Scott's films?

How bad is the dog scene?

I dont want to sound like a plum, but things like that really upset me. Is it really bad or is worth watching to see the baddies comeuppance?
