What film did you watch last night?

It's about 5 seconds and the dog gets booted once off screen but there's an aftermath scene with a bit of blood.

John Wick was a good film.

Watched Sicario last night, enjoyed the film. Emily Blunt pplayed the role well but her character annoyed me. I won't post a spoiler.

Pretty good basis for a film but could have been better, everything seemed too easy and disjointed.

How bad is the dog scene?

I dont want to sound like a plum, but things like that really upset me. Is it really bad or is worth watching to see the baddies comeuppance?

At about the 13 minute mark (you'll know the scene is coming) , skip to about 15:42 and you won't have to see it - My wife is very sentimental and I needed to pre watch up to that scene so I knew when to skip it for her

Bad Boys 2

5/10

It's watchable if you can get past the annoying 360 camera shots from below the waistlines and over saturated colours :)

Stretch (2014)

"A hard-luck limo driver struggles to go straight and pay off a debt to his bookie. He takes on a job with a crazed passenger, whose sought-after ledger implicates some seriously dangerous criminals."

7/10 for pure WTF and randomness. A good no-brainer.

Just a little trivia from imdb-

"Much of the research and development on Prometheus (2012) was used on The Martian (2015). Especially the space suits."

Interesting, and actually made by the same company, however they are based on skin suits under development for mars. So I probably see it that way, as I know about these skin suits. Rather than seeing it as copying off Prometheus it's copying from real life.

Requiem for a Dream

Drugs are bad, yep got that. This movie seemed to get lots of praise but I'm not sure why. The score and cut scenes of drug abuse become repetitive. The 'tripping' scenes aren't really convincing. I get that it's supposed to be terribly shocking, but I didn't find it really all that shocking. I didn't feel anything for any of the addicts (ok Jenniffer Connelly is smokin' ) but yes, yes Aronofsky is amazing, etc. But more substance please (pun intended :p ).

5/10

A large part of requiem is the style. The repetitive score and cutting and so on are there to highlight the cyclical destructive nature of the addictions. The aggressive editing is the main thing that comes in for praise, like the reducing shot length and the choppy fast edits and how exhausting it all is by the end of it. But yeah, I agree it's a bit thin substance wise.

It's not too bad, nothing compared to the one from I Am Legend. You don't see them kill it and all you see afterwards is the dog and Keanu side-by-side with a bit of blood.

Unstoppable - 2/10

This may be the worst film I've ever seen. You cannot make a film about driving trains exciting. The fact that they tried suggests someone needs to find a new career.

I get representation. I was just left disappointed, and when I told my gf this she was outraged and responded "you just don't get film" which pretty much sums it up for me... It was all about style and people buying into the BS, yet all that style was set around so much predictability, stereotype and the dumb moral message I just found myself disliking it. I actually found myself sniggering at the supposed shock scenes... Watch out middle class pretty girls, if you take heroine you'll eventually find yourself on a double ended ***** party!!! Please. <cut to intense music and being chased by a fridge>

Incorrect. I think there are better films that do a better job of displaying degenerates of drug abuse. Losing your arm, submitting yourself to sex slave parties and receiving ECT treatment after being force fed in hospital is just over the top and unrealistic shock tactic. I thought that let it down. What we got was less of a decent film and more of a dramatic but stylised life skills video from school.

Yes, a well aimed dump could be based on prometheus, but very little else.

Reports from this thread have me very interested in seeing the martian.

You should mate, was surprised how well thought out it was. I didn't know this at the time but it was based from the book. They were going to change a major point with the story but it was too late in the production for it.

*****Careful The Martian movie spoilers below*****

They were going to add the possibility of finding natural water on the planet based on recent Mars discovery
