What film did you watch last night?

Spectre - 8/10

Great film but Casino Royale is still my favourite, but definitely one of the better Bond films. Craig is just brilliant as Bond, be a shame when he gives it up.

Only negative was the love story side to the film

That's like saying you don't consider the Nolan Batman films to be a reboot/reinterpretation compared to the Tim Burton ones. Or that the Abrams Star Treks are the same as the first four Trek movies. It the same core, but very different.

I understand what you are saying, but they (original and remake) are different films though. You've misunderstood what I said, or was trying to say.

I am talking about the actual same film. Basically, someone (could be anybody) who watched a film years ago and thought it was rubbish, then watches the same film again years later, and hopes that the film has improved.

Just saying; how can it improve, it's the same film. It hasn't changed. One of those things people say that makes no sense. That's all. :)

Southpaw 7/10. It was a decent boxing movie. A few things really annoyed me.

Like how quick he lost all his money. And it portrayed him at the start as a guy who totally loved his daughter, then he just stops caring.

But still well worth a watch and the fight scenes are pretty good.

The Gift (2015)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2415458/reference

A young married couple's lives are thrown into a harrowing tailspin when an acquaintance from the husband's past brings mysterious gifts and a horrifying secret to light after more than 20 years.

Jason Bateman (Arrested Development) stars in this great psychological thriller, this must be a subject close to Bateman's heart as it's the second film I've seen him in regarding this issue/subject!! Great film, must see imho.

Highly recommended
9/10

Spectre, 6/10: fanboys are gonna love it. To me, meh. It's loud, crashy, bangy, shooty, drive fasty, overly sentimental, utterly storyless, clichéd to the Max but entertaining nonetheless. It goes without saying I've seen better films this year, and doubtless I will see worse.

The story was pants though, even my mother would be able to understand it. For me, it was very much a notch down from Skyfall. If it didn't have the association and pedigree (for whatever that is worth) you would think it's an expensively produced load of nonsense.

Turks and Caricos. Bill F. Nighy is back to kick some more arses! This time he's teamed up with Helena H. Bonham Carter (who looks absolutely stunning :wired: :weirdo:) and a few random blacks.

8/10.

Green Inferno.

Just when I thought modern horror/slasher movies were getting too toned down...

Watched all the Back to the Futures over the week. Outstanding trilogy.

One is still my favorite, probably child hood nostalgia but the opening scene is just awesome. It still holds it's own with the affects used too, unless it's been re-done?

Fantastic Four... 3/10

What a complete and utter piece of ****... whole film felt like an intro, writing was a mess, action was short and un-exciting... only got 3/10 because some of the graphics were decent and Sue was nice to look at...

The opening scene is the best intro of any movie from the perspective of setting up the story. From that 5 mins you figured out the names of the main characters, their roles and what they do, a hint of a plot down the line, that there is a dog and its name, the character plays guitar and skateboards, all with only Michael J Fox in the scene.

The effects are pretty solid. I really like the physical effects used for the train in the third one. If you were doing that nowadays it would all be green screen and CGI and it would suck, but as it is it looks brilliant.

I read somewhere that it gets used in film school as an example of how to set up a story, because everything that happens in the early parts of the film is relevant later on. It all slots together, nothing is wasted, there are no blind alleys.

Anyone seen

The Falling...?

Watched it last night...

For a long time I'm lost for words and not sure wether it's so bad it's good or so good it's bad...

I'm eating Humble pie here and asking for help on this one...don't read reviews prior to watching

And you all know how opinionated I am :p
