What film did you watch last night?

The Lazarus Effect - should be called Flatliners: Paranormal Activity - 5/10
Poltergeist - the 2015 family comedy version - 5/10

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Brad H. Pitt (the rich man's Ben Affleck) squares off against Casey Affleck (the poor man's Ben Affleck) in a slow burning art house drama featuring Myles J. J. M. Peterman (the bankrupt man's Casey Affleck).

Pitt and Affleck share a fantastic chemistry throughout this film, which was widely criticised as heterophobic when first released but is now more accurately appreciated as a 'coming of age' story about the hetero-curious Robert Ford.

8/10.

Not technically last night, since it was Saturday, but I watched SW Ep IV: A New Hope in my slow buildup to EP VII :)

Was pretty good fun, lots of nostalgia.

God I remember watching that I think it was on Chanel 4 a few years ago, really disturbing. I don't understand how people can get so comfortable with animals it's so strange to me and he was such an odd duck, the way he kept saying "I love you" was so weird. It's interesting to see how many supporters he had back then but I also wonder how many people really challenged him too.

I have read up a bit about him, and it seems that he was challenged a fair bit. He released a book in 1997, and if you look at reviews for it on Amazon dated around the time it was released it is strange to see people comment on how he has a death wish and will only end up being eaten!

I think he was a very troubled man who probably had mental health issues and it seems to me he was using the bears, and the way of life he adopted to cope.

^^ +1

Another fine piece of work from Herzog, sensitively filmed and exceptionally well researched. Very chilling in places, too.

The last scene he shot, which is included in the movie I found very chilling...He is talking to camera and he keeps looking over his shoulder as if he is worried. Nobody knows how long before his death it was shot either. There is a real sense of foreboding about the scene(obviously easy to say now we know what happened).

Finally got around to watching the equalizer last night.

Bit OTT with the violence, or atleast the graphic nature of it. That said, thank goodness they kept the feel and goodwill of the original character. Bit ropey for the first 30 minutes, but fell in to it, enjoyed at the end.

Recommended if you were a fan of the show.

Watched Lucy with gf yesterday. Got as far as the plane scene when we had enough. Shame cos I did like the story but it was too ridiculous to watch.

I don't even remember what happens on the plane, but yeah, it was rubbish. It reaches its obvious conclusion about a third in and then has nowhere left to go.

I listened to the tape on Youtube after seeing that scene, no idea why and it just left me on an absolute downer for the whole night. The guy was insane but that's no way to die and what's worse is that the poor woman died shortly after him because she bought into his nonsense.

Spectre - 7/10 - Fairly entertaining, I've seen a few Bond films now but while I kinda enjoy them I'm clearly not a Bond fan, they just don't do it for me.

Scene when
her skin is "evaporating" sitting on the plane, think she reached 50% brain usage at that point

I might force myself to watch it till the end or just have it running in the background while I do something else.

True Romance. 8/10

Not seen it in ages but dug it off the shelf last night as I've pretty much seen everything at the cinemas at the moment. Seeing Good Dinosaur on the weekend, not seen any reviews back here about it yet though.

Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 6/10
Bit of a borefest, and just continues on with the same unlikeable characters, none of which really redeem themselves in any way.

Everest (2015)

On the morning of May 10, 1996, climbers from two commercial expeditions start their final ascent toward the summit of Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth. With little warning, a violent storm strikes the mountain, engulfing the adventurers in one of the fiercest blizzards ever encountered by man. Challenged by the harshest conditions imaginable, the teams must endure blistering winds and freezing temperatures in an epic battle to survive against nearly impossible odds.

Great film based on real-life events that brutally depicts the dangers of mountaineering.

Highly recommended
