What film did you watch last night?

Terminator: Genisys

Good morning everybody.

I previously gave this film a 7/10 for some reason, and after re-watching it, I have come to the conclusion that I have no choice but to plead temporary insanity and attempt to cleanse my conscience...
Maybe I was just happy to have a new Terminator film and was suffering from the same affliction that's currently affecting many of the TFA viewers**

*Contains spoilers and totally starred out swearies, mods *wink*. Oh, and nuts*

**** you for erasing the original timeline.
**** you for casting Jai Courtney as Reece. Nothing personal, he's just miscast and written badly. He also looks like an ape under most types of lighting.
**** you for making me cringe at the overly forced daytime TV romance ****.
**** you for having a well fed, juiced up future army with nice shiny outfits, which basically drops a long curly poo on the original bleak and virtually hopeless vision of squalor, gruel and if you're really lucky, a bit of bbq rat to go with your misery. Yeah, ok, it was slightly cleaner in that brief bit at the start of T2, but they went too far here, so **** them.
**** you for disregarding how a T1000 is meant to work. It can't form complex parts, never mind drip bits of itself into broken terminators that magically fixes them. Copy/paste, shiny Mr Blobby and stabby stab stab is basically it.
**** whoever cast that dude playing Bill Paxton's character - and the alley drunk too for that matter.
**** whoever thought it made sense for Arnie to become T1000ified by going swimming in the polyalloy. Don't give me that 'it just needs a chip' ****...
**** the whole 'pops' thing. Yeah, it's a learning computer, but come on... Don't give me that 'but it brought humour to the film, Petey'. Shut yer face. This shouldn't be a comedy series and the terminator doesn't need more character, nor would it be competing with Reece or giving a **** about being old and needing to remind anyone that it's still relevant. So **** you too, Arnie for going along with it.
**** you for using the same ****ing lines like "Come with me" and "No pity, no remorse" etc AGAIN and for no reason other than fan service for fans who don't want or need to hear it AGAIN.
**** whoever is responsible for the glossy look. I want dat grit, goddamit.

Kind of on the fence regarding them making John the bad guy...
On one hand, it's an interesting concept and a nice twist.
On the other hand, it brings us back to point one, so I have to say **** you for making John the bad guy.

Can anyone tell me what his ultra convincing argument to try and get Reece and Sarah to join him was? I still have no idea. I don't think they did either.

Other than that, it was alright.
I may get started on some of my nitpicks regarding this movie after breakfast.

**Calm down, it's a trap!

Wow, everyones entitled to an opinion! Luckily I completely and utterly agree with you regarding this travesty of film.

Race to Witch Mountain - 7/10

Wanted something to enjoy for a couple hours so rewatched this one, not the best movie out there, but it contains some fun movements and action so suited me down to the T just to pass the time as I am down with a bad cold so no going out and having fun tonight of all nights. :p

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation

Pretty decent brain out action film. Felt more like a classic Bond film than any of the recent Bond films. My GF did point out that Simon Pegg doesnt really work that well in a 'sort of a bit comedy' role in a non comedy film, which is true. But we enjoyed it.

7/10

Well, I'd had no plans to see it, but the Mrs booked tickets for us to see The Force Awakens so we saw that tonight. I hadn't had high expectations, after the cinematic diarrhoea that was the prequel trilogy, but I was pleasantly surprised. It looked good, the settings looked right, I liked the characters. Han Solo stole the show a lot of the time, but that's Han Solo for you. The plot was a huge retread, but there you go.

So nothing ground breaking, but at least this time it was worthy of the name.

Roman Holiday

First thing first, I wished this was shot in colour, i know it was 1953 but it could have brought out the city of Rome so much better had it been in colour.

Other than that, I quite liked it, it's not as good as Breakfast at Tiffany's IMO, still love Hepburn, she's such a good actress, shame she isn't of this era, would have lit up the screen and bring more class.

Also, now I realise what movie Notting Hill is based on!!! The scene in the end with the press was almost an exact copy. All in all, good movie and I might watch My Fair Lady next.

7/10

I thought terminator Genysis was a fair punt at reinventing a stale franchise. You can't accuse it of being short of ideas. I'd give it a solid 3/5 - not bad, very watchable. It would have benefitted from a couple less action sequences.

Episode 7. I thought it was excellent, lots of tributes paid to Episodes 4,5 & 6.

Best bit?

no Jar Jar Binks.
:D

Yeah, I give it marks for trying to do something a little different, and it wasn't all bad. It's just that the franchise deserves better.
While I stand by everything I said in my 'review', I only wrote it that way for a bit of lol venting :D

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation (2015)

Fantastic. It combined thriller and action elements really well and was better than Spectre by a country mile.

7/10

The franchise deserves to be left alone and remembered purely for the originals. The producer should have done what they did with back to the future and ensured no one could produce inferior squeals that pollute and damage a great film.

How do you define 'originals' though?

There was a seven year gap between the original Terminator and its sequel. Enough time to forget what the franchise was about, which I think they succeeded in doing. T2 is a kids film in comparison to the original.

But that's nothing compared to the drop off to T3. Not even close.
