What film did you watch last night?

I watched meet Joe black with my gf, film 7/10 great film to watch with a partner IMO.
Its about brad Pitt playing death and wanting to experience what it's like to experience the world as a human.
Its basically a romantic movie.

When the credits came on at the end and the "over the rainbow" song came on my gf started to sing the lyrics and ot brought a tear to my eye knowing I had made her happy <3

Ex Machina 8/10

This film seems to have passed me by until now. I must say the simplicity added to it's brilliance and a thoroughly enjoyable film.

Pacific Rim was great. It knew it was a bit silly and it ran with it. Also, crucially, you could see what was happening, which is something I look for in film as a fundamentally visual experience.

Yup, PR was superb. I'm not generally a fan of modern action films, but this one was great.

Spot on about being able to see what was happening - a symptom (I suspect) of action films all being 12A, rather than 18 as for Die Hard, Terminator etc, is that fight scenes have to be edited to cut out much of the actual fighting. I suppose using robots means that you can get away with a bit more violence. Or, possibly, it was just made by people who understand how to make action scenes.

Dat sword tho' :D

I love PP, saw it at the cinema and the visual in that size was amazing, the sound too was really thumping. Or perhaps they turned it up to 11 for that movie because I found it a bit too loud.

Really enjoyed it, silly but enjoyed every minute of it.

Creed.

I can't get the critical acclaim for this film. I didn't think it was great at all. Apart from Stallone, the acting was atrocious. Bellew will certainly never have a career as an actor, and Creed himself is no great shakes. The story was just ridiculous.
As if a fighter that new would get a shot at titles that quickly, regardless of who his dad was. And I highly doubt anyone would be allowed to box professionally whilst awaiting trial for a gun possession charge!
Stallone was the best thing about this film and his acting at times was excellent. Really started to look like an old man through it, but in terms of the Oscar for best supporting actor, I don't think his performance even compares to Mark Rylance's excellent turn in Bridge of Spies.

Overall 5/10 for me.

The Revenant 7/10

Well its alright.... Gets a bit too long.... utterly far fetched they really pushed the original story then broke it.. imo.

Tom Hardy was great...

Yeah worth a watch - I love that period of History too - i think it helped the film go down for me at least.

I think its borderline nonsense however - far too Hollywood
