It wasn't though. It was just OK. Excellent is the wrong word for a remake of A New Hope.

It was good enough for what it needed to be. If they'd remade Phantom Menace, then the franchise would be dead and buried. As it is, they recovered some of the charm and made a passable film. It's not great, no, but it's won them back a lot of goodwill.
And hey, Empire was better than Hope, so maybe this next one will be legitimately awesome.

The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! - what a cracker, very silly and funny. Not as good as Airplane or Top Secret but still good. 4/5
Bat Vs Supes. It wasn't a bad film as such. It had it's moments and was, really, 30 minutes too long. Not really sure about the dream sequence at all and was confusing in parts. Not quite the train wreck the critics have said but still way off the best of Marvel. 6/10. Loved WW though.

Utter garbage.. very unsettling movie that for a long period I though was telling the story of a child abduction from the abductor pov. Horrific and totally not my thing at all.

NeverEnding Story 7/10 Remember watching this in the cinema when it was first released and thought it was awesome. This was the first time I have watched it since then and I have to admit my score is based more on nostalgia than how good I thought the movie was.
The film hasn't aged well in my opinion. Too much filler, like all the shots of Falkor's head, and Atreyu riding either the horse or the dragon. And the special effects are cringeworthy now.
But the story is magical and the characters amazing.
I think it needs a remake.

No, it hasn't aged well at all really, but certainly agree it's got some really great magical moments. The second film was ****, and I didn't even know there was a third one until recently; which gets an amazingly low 3.1 on IMDB. That really has to stink to get a score that low. 
There is talk of a remake, possibly with Peter Jackson as director. Good choice I think as long as he can make it more like his better work, and resists the temptation to turn it into a film with three parts.
Guillermo del Toro, would be an even better choice though. Would be great to see what weird and wonderful things he could come up with.

Ip Man 2 - 8/10
Ip Man 3 - 8.5/10
Both excellent films, highly recommend them even if you're not really a martial arts film person, there's a lot more going on besides the choreography.
Man of Steel - 6/10
Better than I expected. Watched it in preparation for possibly seeing Dawn of Justice. It wasn't bad.

Tyson in Ip Man 3 was a beast. All three films are just great. Donnie Yen is awesome.

Not really sure what to make of this film. I didn't think it was boring, it looked great and Jason Clarke was excellent but nothing much happened for an hour and I didn't really care for any of the characters or feel any sense of danger while they were descending the mountain.

Batman vs Superman 7.5 / 10
Reading some of the feedback I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. Sure it had plenty of flaws one was a big killer, a few silly moments, the end was dragged out but overall it was very entertaining. Definitely one to see on the big screen

Sicario - The film started great; lots of action and the music is really well done and gets you right into the film. But it was over far too quick and some of the storyline just tailed off and ended up being rather pointless.
