What film did you watch last night?

Night Watch, then afterward Day Watch.

The first film was pretty good and seemed to add something a bit different to the usual vampire flicks, the second film felt like it was just a money maker though and was disappointing. I'd recommend watching the first and then leaving it, the story lines don't really merge or continue anyway.

toy story 2 as part of the IMDB 250 challenge, still funny after all this time.
Got that on Blu-ray to watch sometime today.

Toy Story on Blu-ray.

Still very very good. Unfortunately the animation hasn't really held up, with some really low res textures, not-so-detailed models, and simplistic physics rearing it's head.

However once you get past that, the story is awesome. :D
Watched that the other day. Blu-ray ofc. Thanks to Disney for doing a buy one get one free on a lot of their films.

Considering its 15 years old Toy Story looks pretty amazing on Blu-ray I think, for an animated film. :)

From Paris with Love.

Was pleansantly surprised by this, went into it thinking it was going to be dire, but if you just take it at face value, a ridiculous action film, then thats exactly what it delivers.

7.5/10

Taxidermia. East European surrealism at its most brutal and bizarre.

When Neville Gorman said "The birth of Hungarian cinema was the death of art", this is the sort of thing he had in mind.

If you're disturbed by the thought of a man having sex with a pig's carcass, Taxidermia is probably not the movie for you. And believe me, pig sex will be the least of your worries.

The wife hadnt seen it before so who was i to say no.

She loved it, i love it, i know what the little girl grows up to become probably the most beautiful women in the world and the ending is fantastic....enough said i feel.

Paranormal Activity meh

Apocalypse of the Dead I had to stop watching halfway though. All the 'shake that cam!' shots were giving me a headache (everytime a zombie appeared onscreen)

Blood Diamond.

Only the 2nd time iv'e seen it, swore id not watch it again till i got the bluray.

Yesterday i got around to buying it, recommend it to anybody.

Superb movie; one of my all time favourites. Jean Reno for the win. Natalie Portman, om nom nom.

Blood: The Last Vampire, the 2009 live action version.

There were some really good ideas in this re-imagining of the anime classic that was let down by incredibly bad CGI blood and monster effects.

The story is a slight departure from the original that trips over its own feet for some bizarre reason, Saya is supposed to be "The last remaining original" but the movie is based around the fact that she is not, very paradoxical..or lackadaisical.

The sets are all very well considered, although there is very heavy use of the orange/blue lighting combo that seems to be raging like a virus through the industry at the minute.

Photography wise it was filmed by a mixed bag of crew as it is very evident that some of them cannot focus pull to save their puny little human lives while others shown excellent flair for camera work.

The transfer to BluRay was impeccable, I was constantly smiling at the level of detail in the image.

Overall 7.5 out of 10, it could have been a heck of a lot worse, yet it could have been so much more if it wasn't for the silly CGI and very poor focus pulling.

Octopussy:

Seen this when I was small, watched it last night for the first time in like 10 years, loved it, 8/10 imo.

All the things I like in a film:

Quick non boring all action start, I don't like long intro's.
Nice women.
Far places ( in the past).
( car) Chases.
Gadgets.
Explosions, machines, etc...
Action.
Good humor here and there like Roger zooming in and out and in and out on the girls **** when he is messing with the camera when q is explaining something to him in India.

Pluspoints for Roger Moore ofc. I like his acting.

No matter how much I like Sean Connery, this easily beats Never say Never again from the same year ( watched it the day before).

The only thing I got annoyed was the de-arming of the detonator, of course he had to do it in the last second.

Didn't like it, then? Sorry :(

It's been a while since I watched it, but I thought it had a certain charm, if that's the right word. Yes, it was clumsy and tasteless, but I felt there was a poignancy running throughout. I seem to recall some very effective cinematography, too.

Time for a re-watch, I think.

It's not that I didn't like it; I actually felt quite ambivalent about it. There were some clever moments, but the lack of a plot and a coherent message meant that there was nothing to engage with.
