What film did you watch last night?

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

First time I've seen it, I didn't have a clue what was going on throughout some of it tbh.

Apart from the 10 minutes of fighting at the end, Gal Gadot who's a total babe and Ben Affleck who I thought made a great batman, the rest of the film was a complete snore fest.

4/10

What about it?

very good but sad :(

I know it was probably expected but the father did everything to save his kid and i thought he would make it, I had my mind set on a win win dad + daughter survive but **** no. Felt that storywise they could have kept him alive but to maximise impact lets kill him too. So i think they sacrifice a few points of the story (and sequel with him in it) for shorter term emotional impact gain of the film. Probably also maybe they felt karmic justice was done as the film sortof implies that he (his firm) is partly responsible for the outbreak. Meh shenanigans i say.
Saddest zombie film pic i've seen tbh. (not counting walking dead which is a whole different level of sad haha)

Gravity is a clear solid 9/10

On face value one could agree...but gravity is a film that has so much depth to it...most just never find the true meaning and watch it like a marvel film.

The ending is sublime and sums up existence in a blink of an eye..

Gravity is stunning.

Audiences blame films too much...when in fact they need to start blaming themselves for not having the intelligence to look, actually look and digest beyond the spectacle.

Sigma not getting it...is not the films fault but entirely his...

Will you please stop with the superior than thou crap. You like Gravity, whoop dee doo. Good for you. You say that people who don't like gravity aren't intelligent enough to understand it? LOL what an arrogant statement. Maybe it's just that they don't like it?

There are movies out there for everyone, slow, fast, deep, complicated, romances, comedies etc. Liking one type of movie doesn't mean you won' like the other types of movies. Also, if you prefer thrillers over other types of movies, it doesn't mean you like every thriller.

You said it yourself. "Film is fabricated , manipulated imagery to evoke an emotional response" And yet, it's concept you can't seem to grasp. That response will vary from person to person. There is no right or wrong reaction.

On this thread you believe your opinion of a movie is more important than anyone else's, that your thoughts on a movie are the only correct ones. And you constantly try to put down other people and try to change their opinion to match yours. Just look at your stupid, arrogant statement about Sigma, basically saying he isn't intelligent enough to understand it.

Just letting you know that it's usually the less intelligent and those people that feel inadequate that need to force their opinions on others. You don't discuss movies, you just put people down whose opinion of a movie differs to your own.

He does it all the time, this arguement always comes on.

Best way is to ignore his stupid statements, rather than feed his ego.

He wouldn't understand it would he? He turned it off after 15 mins....:p How arrogant is that?

Is this not reason to question his integrity?

Making comments about Trainspotting calling it a druggy film...and not actual seeing it?

Does this not question the persons integrity?

No I don't...What I do is offer critique and people get all insecure about it...

I mean people in this thread actually offer an opinion on films they have not seen...Moan if people don't like it...And then question themselves why they like guff and get frustrated and embarrassed about liking transformers...:p

Usually with no solid reason why the film is any good...

You like Arrival ? Thas fine....I don't and I'm going to tell you why...

You like Interstellar? Thats fine...I don't and I'm going to tell you why...

Just like you can tell me why you do like something...

People have even responded with "easy, you are ruining the film for me" How can I ruin anything about a film thats been released...If you didn't notice the silly nod to 2001 in Interstellar with the silly monolithic robots...But now you notice them and don't really dig them on second viewing ...Thats not my fault is it?

Ignorance is bliss for most

Your original post needed to be clearer TBH...I understood it to be you thought it was rubbish.

People might have been put off seeing it.

I cried at the end....The end scene on the train was harrowing:(

I offer an opinion

People offer theirs

I ask them why

They complain :p

Thats what is happening here.

But in fairness, that isn't what's happening is it?

You can't help trying to 'educate' people. I think I get why - maybe you want people to enjoy and understand movies as you do. Maybe they'd get more out of movies if they understood them as you do?

The problem is it comes over as insufferable arrogance :)

If we're going to have pages of useless bickering, just make individual threads, lets leave this thread as intended!

I guess when someone comes into a film thread and calls Trainspotting "A druggy Film " without even seeing it....

Does grate me somewhat...:p

Trainspotting was a cultural event in the 90's and made a real impact with the youth of that period and with adults alike.

I think thats what fundamentally wrong with cinema today...Many people just don't know how to watch films anymore...They can't even sit in the cinema Pre-screening (adverts, trailers running )without checking their mobiles phones.

I'm not trying to educate anyone...I'm just offering my opinion...

Some people just perceive this as arrogance...usually when they have no real opinion of their own.

If Sigma wants to turn off Gravity after 15 minutes cause he has the attention span of a goldfish...Thats fine...But I see no harm in explaining to him what he is missing.

If we didn't question silly decisions the world would be up **** creek. :p

Eddie the Eagle.

Totally by accident, clicked on it by mistake, decided to roll with it. As formulaic as all the Marv, Vaughn films seem to be, but one that works given the central character.

Remember people saying at the time it came out, it was surprisingly enjoyable. I found that too, along with a Hugh Jackman that seemed to be the perfect fit for the other half.

You enjoy Marvs stick, you'll like this.

Correction: I turned the film off approximately half way through. But I switched off mentally after about 15 mins and I stated why, to which you didn't reply (this makes it a bit rich to question my integrity) :) perhaps your comprehensions skills need revisiting, want to practice them when I watch Gravity again? I'll let you know when I press play ;)

Have you not watched For All Mankind?

Some of the audio streams of the Astronauts space walking is bordering on delirium madness due to the fact that they are travelling at 17,000 miles an hour with a gold fishbowl on their head....

So your post about hysterical astronauts wasn't worthy of a response.:p

You can hear the elation in their voices
