What film did you watch last night?

It's is subjective you're absolutely right and most films I find personally struggle to finish well. This one blindsided me big time and I loved it but yes this is just my personal opinion and shouldn't be taken as anything more.

You sound like me! :p

Lol, I mean....

The 6th Sense, The Usual Suspects, Fight Club, Se7en, The Game, The Sting, Saw, Shawshank Redemption, Planet of the Apes...just off my head.

Sure, I didn't see the ending for Split coming, and by ending, I think you mean the last 10 seconds. That alone doesn't save the movie, it makes it more interesting as a result but take away that 10 seconds, it's a 7/10 movie for me. Good, but not great.

For you being the key point. This is my opinion as I've said, nothing more.

You could remove the twist from those films and change the quality of them really as well.

Regardless of it just being the final scene it was a game changer that showed that the film I thought I was watching was actually a completely different film.

No need to argue over a film on the internet with a stranger I'm not saying everyone should love it just that I did.

A Royal Affair. Was on TV last night. Historical account of an affair with the Danish King's wife and the risks it entailed. Pretty good. 7/10. Funnily enough, it starred Mads Mikkelesen who was Le Chiffre in Casino Royale. He just can't get away from movies with royal in the title. :p

Dr. Strange

Thoroughly enjoyed this film. The special effects are simply mind blowing at times. Benedict Cumberbatch plays a man who is in search of healing after a road accident but finds much more than he bargained for and ends up in a battle to save the world. Brilliant film. A must watch.

A lot of lazy reviews suggest the effects as an inception knock off, Whilst understandable in parts Empire suggest it is visually, Dali's wet dream, which I found far more accurate. I can see why it's not to everyone's taste. but personally I agree, an excellent intro for the Character. I'm looking forward to his impact in the new Thor directed by the Hunt for the Wilderpeople/what we do in the Shadows guy.

Guy Ritchie's Revolver.... Think it got pretty panned when released, I quite liked it though didn't understand it fully but it was nice to break away from the Lock Stock & Snatch formula. 7/10

Nocturnal Animals - had high hopes for this movie particularly all the phrase and good reviews I had seen. From the very beginning I had a very bad feeling about this. I perhaps missed the point but what was so clever about it? Yes the revenge plot using the story narrative to convey to his feeling of loss and anger but it still didn't really click for me making the ending that bit more disappointing.

6/10 :(

Split the best twist ever...? That is bollllld.

The best twist ever is Saw - I shall fight you all to the death over it!! Vertigo is also up there.

The Usual Suspects twist is largely just audience misdirection.

I don't think it's exactly a great twist to say "some of the stuff we showed you as a flashback?? Never happened Lololol!"

The misdirection aimed at the audience greatly exceeded the misdirection aimed at the police officer in the film conduction the interrogation.

Twists are much better when the audicene only has the same information as the lead characters involved.

Doesn't the eye patch and the parrot constantly squawking about 'pieces o' eight' distract you from enjoying the film?

Indeed, original SAW twist was sufficient to spawn multiple addition films. It made the film.

Fifty Shades Darker

Not quite as cringeworthy as the first, but still terrible all around with wooden (fnar fnar) performances from literally everyone.

4/10 (points for boobs and jedi dom/sub trick)

Layer Cake again
8.5/10
Love this film
Welcome to the Layer Cake son

"Don't **** in my pocket and tell me it's raining" :D

Doctor Strange (2016) - 7/10

Loved the first part of the film and loved the end but I felt that they struggled to make the transition from magic n00b to all powerful magician flow in the running time. That said, the special effects were top-drawer and I can see why they had to make the decision to rush parts (no one wants to watch a 2hr origin story) although I felt it was one of the better Marvel films.

Tangled - 9/10

My favourite of the the later Disney films

If it wasn't for Aladdin and lion King it would be my favourite

Lego Batman 9/10

Utterly brilliant, I love all the little digs and references to everything Batman.

I really want to watch it again.

Can't wait to see it

The LEGO Batman Movie

I was a bit disappointed in it tbh. Not that it wasn't a good movie, it was, just not as good as I'd hoped.

7/10 from me.
