What film did you watch last night?

Oh FFS, i'm agreeing with an easyrider comment, I was very underwhelmed with Finding Dory and having people praise it more than Nemo really annoys me.
I thought Finding Nemo was really dull. Finding Dory had some entertaining bits, notably the car chase at the end.

Lilo and Stitch is quite entertaining. It doesn't quite feel like a Disney film, it's an unusual one for them.

Anyway.

We went to see The Lego Batman Movie with our girls this afternoon. I think the wife and I got more out of it than them - there's so many good in jokes about the whole Batman world. I give it pewpewpew/10.

The Spy Who Loved Me - the best Roger Bond film? probably (although Live and Let Die is virtually equal). I had not seen this one in decades and it was better than I remember it, Barbara Bach was a fine Bond girl too. It is showing its age now though. 3/5

Dads Army - a stellar cast could not rescue this completely pointless remake but we all knew that. The film itself was OK but given who was involved and the legacy it was poor. 2/5

Alien. Obviously seen it loads of times but this was the first time on blu-ray. I must admit when I saw the opening FOX logo and credits, I thought the quality was going to be appalling but it turned out quite the opposite. It looked fantastic and the special effects still hold up even today.

The Great Wall

6.5/10

Was actually fairly enjoyable and didn't drag on too long. Nothing to write home about story wise but visually it was amazing.

I watched The Wicker Man on some channel the other night. One of my favourite films ever. I love everything about it. I'll never forget the first time I ever saw the ending years ago. One of the most powerful images in movies, and imo the best ending ever.

I thought it couldn't get any better, but then of course the Nicolas Cage version took it on and made it even better.....

Ermmmm.... wut.jpg
I started the cage version, then wanted to burn myself instead. Did i miss a masterpiece by switching off.

Moonlight

Staggering

Not even going to give it a mark out of ten.

Finally !

Good eh? It gets better the longer it goes.

What is amazing is you almost think it is a documentary, the performances are that good, and how you believe they are the same characters despite them clearly, physically not.

La La Land.

Not bad, I don't really get the frenzy for it though, it didn't blow me away at all, and I found both leads quite annoying tbh. The best bit was the cinematography. Some scenes, particularly the scene where they are dancing after the party have an amazing look to them. However, I don't think it's worthy of the best picture oscar. 7/10.

Seems I'm not the only one to think so https://www.theguardian.com/film/20...rs-win-is-a-disaster-for-hollywood-and-for-us

Hidden Figures (2017) - 7/10

An interesting enough true story with a strong moral message of equality without overdoing the American pride or stereotyping the characters.

Good acting, good music and good use of historical footage, but spends too much time on the racism and segregation within society at the time than the struggles within NASA and the science.
