What film did you watch last night?

John Wick 2: Over the top violence as John Wick again comes out of retirement to pay back a debt marker that cannot be ignored. Much shooting, lots of dead bodies, more insight into the underground society of killers and top flight criminals. If you can ignore the few loopholes and just enjoy the beautiful sets, over the top shootyness and death, it's more relentless Keanu doing murder. No dogs are killed in this sequel, and it sets up the next film. A totally ouit-and-out action film, very enjoyable.

Table 19: Anna Kendrick accepts an invitation to a wedding where the ex that dumped her three months earlier is best man, only to find herself relegated to the far table full of misfits that nobody expected to accept the RSVP. Hilarity ensures as everyone's secret reasons for attending eventually come out. The cast is good and engaging, some nice twists take it away from a standard rom-com story, and I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought, with plenty of laughs along the way.

Passengers - Not the newer one, it's from 2008 about survivors of a plane crash, starring Anne Hathaway and Patrick Wilson. 5/10. It was a bit odd... I was on to the twist very early. It was quite well foreshadowed to be fair. The film as a whole wasn't great though.

The Equaliser - Denzel put in a rare poor performance in this one imo, and overall I found the film incredibly ponderous. 6/10. I imagine there are people that like it though.

Terminator Genisys 6.5/10

The film was waaay better than I was expecting. Not as good as the first two, but definitely better than Terminator 3 & Salvation for me. I thought the story was more interesting than T3 & Salvation. Plus, I really liked how they recreated scenes from the first film. My biggest problem overall, was the casting could have been better, acting could have been better, cgi was inconsistent, and the story felt like it was cut down so it would fit the 1hr 41mins running time target. Other than that, it wasn't too bad. I will admit I did have extremely low expectations.

Baywatch. 3/10. Not very good at all. Didn't expect much though, so wasn't disappointed.

The Rock is a funny one for me. He's apparently the worlds highest paid actor, but I still can't see him as a serious actor. Maybe it's the wrestling stigma, I dunno. It will be interesting when he gets older and starts to lose his muscles and action hero looks, then he'll have to take on more serious acting roles and will be really tested. I think he'll come up short sadly.

See, I am the opposite. I don't know what it is about the Rock, but he seems to just ooze charisma. Any film with him in just seems better because he was in it - even if a film is underwhelming, the fact he was in it tends to make the film more watchable rather than pure crap

Jason Bourne - 6/10

It didn't flow as well as the others. It also felt as if they took cool set pieces from previous ones and didn't do them as well; namely the London scene (Ultimatum) and the dirt bike scene (Supremacy).
