What film did you watch last night?

Baywatch. 3/10. Not very good at all. Didn't expect much though, so wasn't disappointed.

The Rock is a funny one for me. He's apparently the worlds highest paid actor, but I still can't see him as a serious actor. Maybe it's the wrestling stigma, I dunno. It will be interesting when he gets older and starts to lose his muscles and action hero looks, then he'll have to take on more serious acting roles and will be really tested. I think he'll come up short sadly.

The conjuring and conjuring 2

Wife and daughter went to her parents for the weekend so I was able to watch these on the projector with the surround cranked up high and it really shifts these films up another gear, it's a real experience sat in the dark on your own.
Normally a 7/10 and 6/10 but I'll put them at 8/10 and 7/10 watched this way

Wonder Woman.

Like it, I don't love it (not like La La Land Love :p).

Good balance of fish out of water humour, good performances from both leads but weak villain and weak final fight. Overall it does more right than wrong and happy to recommend it to people to go see it on the big screen.

Wonder Woman - Probably give it a 6/10. Its the best of the DC films so far, but I was quite surprised at just how poor some of the CGI was considering the title.

You will need to go to the doctor at this rate, you have lalalandaritis.

Wonder Woman - I thought Gal Gadot was great, really looked the part and definitely showed doubters how wrong they were. I must admit. I was one of them.

The positives, she held the lead relatively well and showed presence and strong character . It did need Chris Pine to help support and bridge the storyline to move the plot along so both did a great job. I am glad they touch on origin story and had some great moments. I liked Connie Nieson and would have been good to be a bit more involved, The film was decent and is probably one of the better DC movies.

The negatives - pacing of the movie was all over the place. I felt the scene was like a shopping list, often hurrying through the motions spending too much on one thing and not enough emphasis on others. I thought the plot really was a cobbling of different material. Parts straight out of the animated movie which you couldn't go wrong tbh but then unnecessarily deviated away to incorporate other ideas from other movies. Captain America comes to mind. The rest of the supporting cast/villains was very weak and almost forgettable and felt they were added just to fill the gaps and make the numbers. The ending was a bit messy and the studio made up bits was glaringly obvious which spoilt it for me. Some of the effects were good but the CGI at times was poor compared to what has been seen from other blockbusters. Poor directing choices in the climax really let it down and wasted the build up. Strange choice for the end threat which definitely didn't work.

I was a little disappointed but still thoroughly enjoyed it. For DC it was definitely a step in the right direction but unfortunately still a lot of areas for improvement.

Overall 7/10. It was good but definitely didn't hit the mark for me. Still no where near what Marvel has achieved.

Triangle 7/10

Think Momento, a story that replays. A weird film but different - Amazon reviews are either black and white - You either like it or hate it. Once I got the story and overlooked the dodgy CGI effects and apparent low budget, its a pretty clever film (if you like weird thrillers).

Terminator Genesis. 9/10 as a parody of terminator history and ******* all over canon As a film. 5/10

GANZ-0. 7/10. Good cgi film.

Lego Batman Movie - 6.5/10.

Son enjoyed it, i did to an extent, but found myself drifting to my phone several times. Wife and daughter lasted 15mins and went and did something else.

I enjoyed the nods to previous Batman movies/TV series especially the 60's versions:

"Atomic batteries to power...turbines to speed."

Wonder Woman (2017) - 5/10

It’s got everything you want and would expect in a superhero movie, but it’s just not very good.

Gadot is a great Wonder Woman who looks the part and plays the role very well, and the iconic set pieces combined with the music are marvellous. The special effects and slow motion action scenes look impressive and the scenes on the Greek island at the start of the movie are stunning.

However, the majority of the plot is weak, the villains are terrible, and the final fight was boring to watch. The acting and supporting cast were ok, but felt unnecessary as they didn’t really do much. Overall, I found it a slog to get through.
