What film did you watch last night?

Life

Was just ok. Don't have a problem with the alien but I was expecting it to turn into a mug or a chair! :)

The twist at the end was a bit obvious.

6/10

Passengers 4k - 7/10.

I was a bit reluctant to watch it based off the reviews i've seen. But I actually really enjoyed it. It's nothing groundbreaking by any means. Jennifer Lawrence looked nice too ;)

Also, it looked stunning in UHD. So bonus point for that :)

Captain America: Civil War: 6/10

I agree with
Captain America: Civil War

Yeah, it has some of the most convenient plot devices in cinema history and one of the poorest villains Marvels ever had.

The fight scenes were good but I thought the Team ironman vs Team Captain America fight was a bit one sided when it should not have been, it seamed like the TS team was not fighting due to feelings.

The best part was spiderman

Hope its not a quick makeup, the build up and issues will be wasted.

I'm team Ironman

300: Rise of an Empire.

Barely passable as a watch once piece of entertainment. The first film was shallow, but this was even more so. At least the original had the quality of a graphic novel brought to life. Rise lacked the composition and inventiveness and had a straight to video feel. Also I think the lead actor (Sullivan Stapleton) was miscast and seemed like a poor man's Gerard Butler / Russell Crowe crossover.

4/10

Hacksaw Ridge : Great film 10/10, though it was a well over the top typical war film with the main bloke doing superhuman deeds.
After reading up about Doss it turns out that he actually did what was depicted in the film , what an extraordinary man.

should be 5/10 for Eva Green getting her baps out.

What I find fascinating is that they removed the part about his shoulder being shattered by a Japanese sniper, I guess it was already stretching the realms of believably and to include that as well would have people rolling their eyes. Utterly brilliant film.

and the Japanese sniper that said he had him in his sites several times but his gun kept jamming

John Wick 7/10

Got a bit bored last night night, so checked to see if this had finally made its way on to Amazon Prime, and was pleased to discover it had. Simple, entertaining fun, but unfortunately the film does lose its momentum in the final quarter.

should be 5/10 for Eva Green getting her baps out.

Those norks skewed my review as well. :D

Life.... 8/10

Very decent example of a modern horror, thoroughly enjoyable.... however....

Film not as tentacle rapey as my friend made it out to be :D And I thought the monster as a squid was a lot scarier than when it reached it's bigger form and it just started to look like a typical Hollywood CG beast. Also there seemed to be quite a lot of bad luck and coincidences on the part of the crew that made things as bad as they were.

Colossal.... 5/10

Hmmm...... so so. Could have been much better if the film decided what it wanted to be. It wasn't funny enough to be considered a comedy. Yet it was too lighthearted to be considered serious even though there were some kinda dark moments between Hathaway and the main guy in her hometown.

Money Monster.... 7/10

Surprisingly enjoyable hostage thriller that I'd never heard of. Seems like they might have thought it was gonna be bigger than it was with George Clooney and Julia Roberts in.
Still, I think it's just about good enough for me to recomend :)

There was a youtube video that went into looking how the film would work if you didn't know that Chris Pratt was desperate and the events that lead to him freeing Jennifer Lawrence.

I think it could have been an interesting spin on things if the first part was more of a mystery/thriller, with Jennifer Lawrence piecing things together as time went on, maybe even shown some flashbacks to earlier events.

Life - 7/10
Quite liked it, apart from a few of the previously mentioned bits

Wonder Woman - 7.5/10
Thought it was good, Gal Gadot definitely works as WW for me!

Hacksaw Ridge - 9/10
Fantastic - not sure why it took me so long to watch it

Man Down,

Started watching this when I'd had a few and wondered where the hell it was going so finished it tonight and it was
worth sticking with.A great take on the PTSD issue with returned servicemen and one I would recommend.

The crew in "life" were a bunch of knee jerk idiots. Making a lot of bad decisions which ultimately got them all killed, and doomed the planet.

:p

Poltergeist (80's Spielberg) 7-10

It wasn't half as creepy as I was expecting. Bit of a snooze fest.

A Cure For Wellness

Shutter Island meets The Road To Wellville, but without the fun "wtfisgoingon!" of Shutter Island.

Beautiful location and scenery, but far too long, and a fairly obvious 'reveal'.

5/10

Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates

Actually funnier than we were expecting, and the ad-lib/blooper reel at the end was great.
I wouldn't mind being the middle of a Plaza/Kendrick sandwich.

6/10
