What film did you watch last night?

To be honest I didn't think it was Chris Pine (still not convinced!)

I am Wrath

Entertaining. Didn't do anything new but I enjoyed it about as much as the first Taken. John Travolta and Chirstopher Meloni make a good double act.

5/10

Hacksaw Ridge

Feel quite conflicted about this movie. Whilst I did 'enjoy' it, I felt it was a little at odds with itself in regards to how it seemed to wallow in it's more violent scenes. Not too say there isn't an interesting juxtapose to be made (SPR and many other war movies do it VERY well), more that it felt deliberately over the top.

Excellent story though. What an incredible individual.

I understand where you're coming from, the violence did go very "comic book" at some points, broke the immersion a little.

Free Fire - 6/10 quite enjoyable with some funny moments, comedy gangster flick would be a good description.

Age of Adaline - 7/10 good movie without the need for loads of CGI and gore :)

Sully - 5/10

I suppose I expected more with Clint Eastwood directing, Tom Hanks and Aaron Eckhart starring. I did take from the story that the whole point of life is to find a scapegoat and blame them for everything they might possibly have done wrong. Additionally, I added the words "hagiography" and "hagiopic" to my vocabulary.

It felt like a TV movie stretched a bit, put in a big name director and lead and put it in theatres.

The Book of Life (2014) - 9/10

A really enjoyable story based on Mexican folklore thanks to its vibrant setting and entertaining characters.

Upbeat, full of colour and humour with larger than life characters and toe tapping songs.

The plot's pace is quick, the use of the modern pop songs works really well, and the ending is both moral and uplifting.

think we all thought that about 3 films back but they keep on coming :(

Despite this being subtitled the final chapter, I did half expect Anderson to reverse his decision that this would be the last one and go on and make another.

Thankfully this is the last one though; at least from Anderson and co. Constantin were pretty quick to announce a reboot though, which is no surprise really.

I'm all for a reboot if there's a chance of something better coming from it; which is certainly possible as they've hired James Wan to oversee it. Just his input alone should result in something better than Anderson's efforts.
