What film did you watch last night?

Woke up normal time for work yesterday and with the wife being away I did a double bill of "Jacobs Ladder" followed by "First Blood" in bed!

If that isn't what bank holidays are for I don't know what is.

I've owned Jacobs Ladder for about 3 years now. Soooo apprehensive about watching it. Psycho thrillers like that really get under my skin...

Watched GOTG2 recently and was disappointed, first film was a solid 7.5/10, new one I really struggled with, I give it 5.5/10. I think the whole thing just felt too forced, the first one was a light-hearted adventure but they should have left it at GOTG1.

Best film I've seen recently is still Get Out.
I watched it on the weekend and thought it was good. Maybe not quite as good as the first one but was still enjoyable and made me laugh a few times!

I would rate the first an 8/10 and second a 7/10

There are certain images in that film that have stuck with me from when I first saw it as a teen. I came in on the film part way through a couple of times and it spooked and intrigued me in equal measure. Apart from this week I think I had only seen it all the way through once before but come in on it started many times.

If I was watching it for the first time now I'm not sure what I would think, but it holds a weird allure from when I was younger. The film is very dreamlike and has a classic 70s paranoia feel.

Alien Covenant: 7.5/10. Beautiful scenery, space effects etc (ship was stunning!). But very dodgy alien CGI effects (aside form the last 'soldier' alien) and some VERY stupid decisions made by supposedly intelligent space crews responsible for 2000 lives.
This is what ruined it for me. I mean - I wouldn't put those idiots in charge of a minibus, let alone a space craft with thousands of people on it.

Blood Father

A Mel Gibson action film. Very short, only 88 minutes and trots a well trodden path of flawed father protecting his daughter from evil gangsters. Feel it does it slightly better than most though. Not a classic by any means, but a decent watch with a small role for the excellent William H Macy. I'll go 6/10.

The Infiltrator

A U.S. Customs official (Brian Cranston) uncovers a money laundering scheme involving Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. Based on a true story, this film really delivers. Excellent from start to finish.

The Hitman's Bodyguard

Funny, action-packed and a good cast. Enjoyed the movie and thought Ryan Reynolds was closer to deadpool humour which played off against the Sam Jackson humour nicely.

8.5/10

The Winter Soldier.

In my humble opinion this movie is nigh on perfect. Harks back to the paranoia/conspiracy 70's/80's genre. First glimpse of the dirtier side of MU.
Action is spot on throughout and sublime with great choreography.
Watching Captain America fully fleshed and kinetic using Mixed Martial arts at his super soldier levels was pure awesome.

The winter soldier himself is great as a fallen hero.

10/10
Best of the Marvel movie Universe in my humble opinion.

Flight of the navigator, every bit as good as I remember.

Also a remake seems to be in development according to IMDb. Although so many of those films never make it out.
