What film did you watch last night?

Saw Den of Thieves.

Good start, slow middle, decent final hour.

Characters a bit 1 dimensional, Butler's family life has no effect except trying to make us care about him and feels a little like padding. But the movie isn't really about that, it does draw good tension, the heist is well done, competent and the twist was smart but I did figure it out about 10mins before Butler did….

Decent, worth watching if you got nothing else to watch.

The cloverfield paradox. 7/10

I enjoyed, not as good as 10 cloverfield lane, still I like this series, paradox left me wanting more like they all have so happy days

Forrest Gump for like the billionth time, but this time with my 11 year old. My wife thought she should see it after having seen The Post just recently. She liked it. It’s a good film, still holds up.

Good? Its absolutely amazing!

Not a minute goes by that doesn’t grab your attention. Takes you through twists with every emotion possible, and I found that I cared about the characters more than any film I’ve ever seen. It’s genius.

Without doubt, Tom Hanks piece de resistance.

Agreed, it’s more than good, not sure why I went for the understatement ;)

Thor Ragnarok

I actually liked it a lot. Much better than the first two which got a bit by the numbers. The humour was a nice touch.

Oh and I'm in love with Cate...

Only bit that seemed odd..

The Dr Strange bit seemed a bit out of place? Could have quite easily not been in the film, seemed like adding in a character for the sake of adding one

The Ritual (2017)
A film about a group of friends who embark on a trekking adventure in memory of their friend who died in a convenience store robbery. They come across some strange things during the trek and tensions grow as to wtf.
Production value seemed quite high given the quality of the special effects and sound especially. The acting was fairly decent too but the whole plot seemed a bit longing. I wanted more, how did the "monster" come to be? The locals were never really explained either. I'd give it a 5/10, something to watch on the weekend when it's quiet for sure.

The girl that spoke English said that the monster was a jötunn, one of the ancient giants from Norse mythology and the locals were a group of worshipers held captive by the giant.

I just watched "Moonrise Kingdom" (last seen in about 2013), which was both excellent and silly, the cinematography was extremely well done with some absolutely cracking shots, and some fun and whacky characters.

Galaxy Quest - very silly Star Trek spoof which shouldn't be as fun as it is. 4/5
That was pretty much my thought when I recently watched it again for the first time in years.
