What film did you watch last night?

Finally got round to watching Arrival again. Been wanting to since I saw it in a dreadful seat at the cinema but still loved it .The girlfriend fell asleep in 40mins though, ugh

In short, not as impactful the second time round. But a beautiful film, and a great one to test the new AV receiver with! Such a shame with the news about Johann Johannse yesterday :(

The Florida Project - 7.5/10

Not going to be to everyones tastes, but a really engaging story about a 6 yo girl who lives in a motel next to Disney World, with her welfare single mum and knocking about over the summer with her friends. Excellent performances by the children and really quite a sad story when you realise this is what it's like for a lot of people. William Defoe was excellent as the motel manager.

The Cloverfield Paradox - 6/10

If this was a stand alone sci fi film I would have scored it lower, but I have a soft spot for the Cloverfield franchise. Good overall story, bit ropey with the script and acting at times, that guy from the IT crowd really can't act and his lines were awful. But I'll be happy to watch the next in the series, if there is one.

The Big Sick - 8/10 for me

Found this film by watching a "Top 10 movies of 2017" on Watch Mojo YouTube channel and realised not only had I not seen a movie for ages. I hadn't seen any in this list. So SWMBO and I watched this on Saturday.

Excellent movie overall! Very very funny. Lots of different realms of comedy are touched on here, ranging from sarcasm to out right awkward moments. I also liked the fact that its based on fact and actual events. I am a big fan of the main actor from watching Silicon Valley anyway. But did not expect to laugh as much as we did. Not too long either, movie felt well paced and overall very very enjoyable :)

"Atomic Blonde" - a £1.99 rental from Amazon Prime and worth it just for the scene of Charlize Theron and Sofia Boutella getting it on (that, by the way, was the wife's comment :)).

Not a bad film. A little style over substance but enjoyable. Excellent acting throughout. 7.5/10.

15:17 to Paris.

NB. AVOID THIS FILM.

You’ll be wasting your money. It’s terrible. Even if you have an unlimited card, like me, I’d say avoid it... you’ll be wasting your time.

I thought it looked rubbish from watching the trailer, really don't get the reason this incident needed to be made into a movie, saying that I personally hate watching any movies like this. Patriots Day, not watched that and never will, just don't think these kind of horrific events should be made into movies.

Finally watched Baby Driver - the name and fact that it looked to be a standard heist movie has put me off.

How wrong I was - loved the style, with soundtrack being provided by music that the lead is constantly listening to. Gives it a music video feeling at times. Whoever did PR for movie including name should be shot.

8/10

Darkest hour. 8/10

Oldman deffo deserves his Oscar nom for this.
Overall a decent film, even forgetting the last 10
minutes, which to me were cringe worthy.

I could have easily watched a 10h version covering the whole war, in its style.

Moon - 6/10
Bit of an oldie now and don't know whether it's because I just finished a run of nights and kept nodding off, but found it quite boring compared to the first couple of times. Then again, missus complained she was having trouble staying awake, too.

Guess it's one of those films once you know the twist and denouement, there's nothing new to find. And I forgot Kevin Spacey voices the robot, eeurgh...
