What film did you watch last night?

Casino 4K - 6/10

Thought I’d give this a go in 4K after disliking the film a few times in the past. But again, I just don’t get the love for this film at all. I find it very boring and Sharon Stone is incredibly annoying (I guess it’s probably the point).

4K did wonders for the film, truly looked amazing. Shows up the dummy prop used for the car bomb scene at the beginning even more though! :D

John wick 3, loved it was not expecting Winston to betray him.

As much as I loved it though I call bs on John wick surviving that fall (I know he did) but even using the line of well it's a film, his spine would have snapped surely
In some ways I'm not too sure that Winston really betrayed John considering he only shot John in the torso. I'm sure it is a way to get John to go after the High Table in the next movie as I get a feeling that Winston is a step or two ahead of the rest of them.
Please remove spoilers from the post. Some have not seen it.

Rear Window (1954) 10/10

Prompted to watch again having just read a fantastic book by James Holland (Big Week) about the US and RAF bombing campaign in 1944.

By gum, Grace Kelly was stunning and Jimmy Stewart, an A-List Hollywood actor and decorated war hero; what can you say - What a life!

Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde
8/10

Generally, it is a good movie with the exception of too much U.S. patriotism (not needed for this movie, I think) and some annoying remarks about Eastern Europe and its "communism".

Labyrinth... years since I saw it but The Dark Crystal has inspired me to re-watch the Henson puppet craziness. It's definitely showing its age but was as amusingly quirky as ever with great creature design. :)

Matangi/Maya/M.I.A. - 7/10
Much more interesting than I thought. I had no idea about the superbowl incident and the furore it caused. Obviously it's quite a biased film but you get a good insight into how badly the "media" can just decide to go after someone and create blockade after blockade in someone's career. Always liked her music. Kala was wicked.

Bladerunner 2049 - 10/10
It doesn't get any better than this. The girlfriend was away so I had my old friend Hans Zimmer turned up to Eleventy Stupid™. I was totally blown away by this in the cinema and hadn't watched it since. It's. Just. So. Good. (Roger Deakins is a god amongst men)

100% Agreed. This movie is just breathtaking in so many ways.

Always hesitant about saying any film is 10/10 as that implies perfection but this comes so close. As such 9.9999999/10 :D

I love that movie so much. Many other Hitchcock movies too.

Detective Pickachu at the weekend, didn't finish, boring and the whole pokemon thing just doesn't appeal to me. Ryan Reynolds as Pickachu was muted and dull, just a total miss on all levels.

Which ever Mod is editing posts to "hide spoilers" for John Wick 3 please stop. Your own "when to use spoilers" thread says only use spoilers for 14 days after cinema release, and that is now well past for this film so it doesn't need spoilers hiding any more - https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/spoilers-please-read-before-posting.18799228/

X-Men Dark Phoenix - 2/10 - The franchise is dead, no one cared about making this film, everything is low effort from everyone except the CGI guys, absolutely dire.

Once upon a time in....Hollywood - 9/10

Absolutely brilliant, loved the film (though I wouldn't be able to tell you why :p) though as per usual with QT it's very subjective and I understand why some people wouldn't be so impressed.

Sorry to Bother You - 6/10

Very odd film that tries to make a lot of social commentary points with humour that doesn't always hit the mark and then the film goes on a very very odd tangent.

Deadwood - 7.5/10

A good addition to the Deadwood story, great to see all the old characters again.

y'all must've seen a different version of BR2049 to me, I thought it was an overlong ridiculously stupid piece of junk. nice cinematography but everything else was the level of bad fanfic.

To be fair, there's little reason to have spoilers in this thread fullstop. And it's hardly any bother tagging them if you do. I'd rather this was a safe place to see what movies people are watching without worrying how many days something's been out at the cinema.

Agreed. You know what spoilers you're getting into if you go into a specific movie thread, but this one is a general thread where you can't control what spoilers you might see.

Also, what value is there in letting people know what you thought of a movie if you also spoil it at the same time? That's not useful to people who haven't seen it, and people who have already know whether it's any good.

Agreed about the difference between a films own thread and this generic one, I use this thread a lot for inspiration and the movies can be from any age, so having a spoiler in the review would ruin things for me tbh

Then please contact the Mod team and ask for the current "only hide spoilers for 14 days after cinema release" forum rule to be changed because that's the rule currently enforced here.
